VanAuken, Gordon - Gordon W. VanAuken, 77, died Sunday, October 3, 1999 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mr. VanAuken was born to Merton and Gladys VanAuken on August 18, 1922 on the family homestead on VanAuken Road. He ran the family farm before working for the Town of Arcadia. He worked as a machine operator retiring in 1983. Mr. VanAuken was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark, a charter member of the Newark Grange and a member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens. He was a former member of the Newark Elks Lodge. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty; son Paul (Kimberlee) VanAuken of Newark; daughter Brianne Benge of Newark; grandchildren Aaron, Caprice and Laura VanAuken, Breille and Brannon Benge; sister Mildred (Alden) Clark of Newark; a niece and a nephew.

Graf, Olive - Olive Anna Graf, 86, of Newark, died Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at the Wayne County Nursing Home after a long illness. Mrs. Graf was born the daughter of Isaac and Cynthia DeHond DeMay on December 8, 1912 in Clifton Springs, New York. She worked, as a bookkeeper for her husband's construction business, Graf Inc. Mrs. Graf was a member of Park Presbyterian Church where at one time she served as elder. She was also served as President of the Geneva Presbyterial in 1968 through 1971. She was a member of the Newark Eastern Star Amitie Chapter 473. Mrs. Graf served a Matron in 1952 and Grand Historian in 1956. She was also a member of the Arcadia Republican Committee. Interment at East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her son Ernest (Grace) Graf of Florida; daughters, Joyce (Gregg) Ross of Sodus, Betty (Robert) Pearce of South Carolina, Arlene (James) Fagner of Newark and Beverly (Jan) Ammerman of Missouri; sister-in-law Mina DeMay; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graf was predeceased by her husband F. Arthur Graf in 1992 and son Donald in 1941.

Pellicano, Catherine J. - Catherine J. Pellicano, 72, Newark, died October 6, 1999 at her home on Davis Drive. Mrs. Pellicano was born October 31, 1926 in Clyde, the daughter of Joseph and Jean Benson Carr. She had worked in the Newark High School cafeteria for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church. Interment will be in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her son Peter Jr. (Janet) of Newark, two daughters Mary (Andy) Miller of Newark and Ann (Dave) Hough of Keene, NY; three grandchildren Sara Pellicano, Katie and Ricky Miller; 12 siblings - Mary Waddell of Ransonville, Joseph (Joyce) Carr of Newark, Beverly (Don) VanHoover of Newark, Barbara (Ed) Rosa of Grants Pass, Oregon, Richard (Rita) Carr of Newark, John (Barbara) Carr of Waterloo, Charlotte (Tom) Damick of Newark, Robert (Rita) Carr of Grants Pass, OR, Donald (Lois) Carr of Grants Pass, OR, Margaret (Norman) Percy of Newark, Timothy Carr of Newark and Charles Carr of Portland, OR; many nieces and nephews. Her husband Peter R. Pellicano died June 2, 1998.

Buisch, Arthur G. - Arthur G. Buisch, 75, of Lyons, died October 5, 1999 in the same house where he was born (on Geneva Rd., Lyons). He was a farmer all his life. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Matthews) Buisch; son, David Arthur Buisch of Lyons; daughter, Deborah Ellen (Clifford) Gee of Clifton Springs; grandchildren Michael and Maribeth Gee; a sister, Catherine Ehman of Lyons; brother Wilfred (Lucille) Buisch of Florida; nieces and nephews.

Virts, Raymond - Raymond W. 'Bud' Virts, 63, of Lyons, died at home October 9, 1999. Mr. Virts was a retired Lieutenant of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department. Interment in York Settlement Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Shelda; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Ginny of Newark, Tom and Kim of Lyons; three grandchildren, Heather, Matthew and Mariah; three sisters, Wanda (Melvin) Morris and Joann (Roger) Knapp, all of Alton, Janet (Dale) Mundy of Wolcott; two brothers, Robert (Miriam) of North Rose and Ronald (Barbara) of Lyons; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, the Rev. & Mrs. Stanton Virts; and brothers, John, Donald and Randy.

Smith, Eleanor J. - Eleanor J. Smith, 68, of Madison St., Newark, died Oct. 7, 1999 at Via Health of Wayne, Newark Campus. Eleanor was born June 17, 1931, in Fulton, the daughter of Robert and Helen Moon Doty. She had lived in Newark for the past 34 years and had operated her beauty shop from her home on Colonial Drive for many years. Eleanor was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed serving on many programs such as the lunch program, youth program and the Knox Class. Interment in Mount Adnah Cemetery in Fulton.She is survived by her son, Jeffrey L. Smith of Farmington; daughter, Michelle (Charles) Yost of Farmington; four grandchildren, Kelley and Chelsea Smith and, Ally and Ashley Yost; two sisters, Jeanette A. Davis of Fulton and Ann L. Kimberly of Liverpool; and a brother, Lee R. Doty of Fulton.

Keifer, Dorothy - Dorothy Shay Keifer, 94, of Lyons, formerly of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, died Oct. 6, 1999 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA. Dorothy was born Oct. 17, 1904, in Annville, PA, the daughter of Arthur M. and Emma Strickler Shay She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and had taught Sunday School at church. She was majority inspector of the election polls for over 50 years. She was a member of the GSH Auxiliary Garden Club, the Lincoln Republican Club, the Quentin Riding Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had also taught knitting at the YMCA. Interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. She is survived by her two sons, William L. Keifer Jr. of Lyons, and Frederick R. Keifer of Bloomfield, CT; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, W. Lewis Keifer; and her brother, A. Richard Shay.

Papcun, John M. - John M. Papcun, 69, of Newark, died Oct. 3, 1999 at Newark ViaHealth. John was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Clymer, Pennsylvania, son of Stephen and Barbara Krupar Papcun. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict. He received an honorable discharge as a first lieutenant. He worked for Libby, McNeil & Libby for 14 years and was retired form Comstock Foods after 24 years. He was a past president and vice president of the NYS Food Processors Association. Interment in the Newark Cemetery with full military honors provided by the rifle squad from Ft. Drum. John is survived by his wife, Stella; two daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Tiedemann, and Suzanne Papcun; two grandchildren, Thomas Jr. and Emily; brothers, George and Stephen Papcun; sisters, Ann Bailey, Suzanne Bender, Margaret Beliveau and Irene Konarski; nieces and nephews.

Herbert, Paul K. - Paul K. Herbert, 80, of Marion, died Oct. 10, 1999. Mr. Herbert was a former Xerox employee. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen S. Herbert; three daughters, Jennifer Decker of Lyons, Kelly (Jeffrey) VerStraete of NC, Kimberly Shur of Palmyra; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother, William of Eustis, FL; 2 sisters, Evelyn Nickens of FL, Dorothy Mikell of NJ; nieces and nephews.

Verbridge, Elwood H. - Elwood H. Verbridge, 65, of Palmyra, died Oct. 12, 1999. Mr. Verbridge was a retired Town of Palmyra Highway Dept. employee and a member of the Palmyra fire Dept. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. Elwood is survived by his wife, Shirley DeMay Verbridge; two daughters, Irene (Larry) Pigman of Waterloo and Debra Kunes; son, Mark E. (Slyvia) Verbridge of Manchester; step-son, David (Linda) VanKouwenberg of Rochester; brother, Arther of Palmyra; 10 grandchildren; two nieces.

Keller, Gladys Marie - Gladys Marie Keller, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at Clifton Springs Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 14, 1913 in Lyons, the daughter of William and Mary Herman Klahn. She retired from Newark Development Center as a staff attendant with 44 years of service. She was a past president of the August Mauer Post 286 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Lutheran at Heart. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her son Terry Keller of Manchester; a daughter, Sandy Keller of Newark; two grandchildren; Matthew and Tait; one greatgrandchild, Julieanna; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard in September 1975.

DeBoerdere, Judith M. - Judith M. DeBoerdere, 92, of Wolcott, died October 14, 1999 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Margaret (Bernard) Vanderbrook of Dallas, NC, Mrs. Leona (Frank) Donk of Clyde, and Mrs. Marie (Jerry) Wemesfelder of Newark; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. DeBoerdere was predeceased by her husband Predent in 1992.

Filippello, Kenneth R. - Kenneth R. Filippello, 84, formerly of Newark, died Oct. 5, 1999 in Sun City, Arizona. Mr. Filippello was born April 10, 1915, in Lyons the son of Ralph and Theresa Reda Filippello. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army and received a Bronze Star for his performance in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he came to Newark where he owned the Lake Shore Amusements and was a part-time barber. In 1965 he bought his own barber shop on E. Union St. and operated it there until Urban Renewal came. He was a barber in his home until he moved to Arizona in 1994. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and had been active with the Newark Rotary, Arcadia Memorial Post VFW, and Newark Elks. He is Past Grand Knight of the Newark Council 897, Knights of Columbus. He had served for many years on the Newark Housing Authority and had been a trustee for the Village of Newark. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Stirpe, of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren, Anthony (Deidre) of Tempe, AZ, Jennifer (Russell) Sanders of Chandler, AZ, and Natalie of Mesa, AZ; two great-grandsons; brother, Frank Filippello of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Rose Filippello, Catherine Colacino, Angeline Venuti, Mary Decker, Lena Zappia, Eleanor Zappia, and Jaye Zappia; nieces and nephews and friends.

Tack, Orville - Orville Tack, 76, Lyons, died Oct. 16,1999, at the DeMay Living Center, Newark. Orville was born March 2, 1923 in Marion, the son of John and Emma Stacey Tack. He had worked for many years for Jackson & Perkins, and retired in 1985 from the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, where he had been the head grounds keeper. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. He is survived by Virginia, his wife of 34 years; two sons, Dale (Marjorie) Ameele, and Mark (Barb) Ameele of Newark; eight grandchildren; sister, Elsie Morgan of Sodus; sister-in law, Dolores Bryant of Lyons; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Audrey; a daughter, Sharon Proseus; and a brother, Leon Tack.

Beman, Philip Jessie - Philip Jessie Beman, 80, of Newark, died Saturday, Oct. 16, after a long illness. Mr. Beman was born to Philip H. and Elsie Martin Beman on July 14, 1919 in Elmira. He was a graduate of Sodus High School, and he built his own home on Welcher Road in 1952. Mr. Beman worked for Sarah Coventry for 15 years and Riegel Paper, which is now Fold-Pak, for 10 years. He was the proprietor of the Old Fashion Crackers Co., and had a talent for refinishing furniture. The Army flag flew in honor of his service to this country during World War II. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. Mr. Beman is survived by his wife of 59 years, Erma David Beman; son and daughter-in-law, James and Sharon Beman of Newark; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Blanch Beman of Newark, and Mildred Beman of Lyons; nieces and nephews. Mr. Beman was predeceased by his son, Richard in 1997; and brothers, Maurice and Faye.

Lippert, Lavern - Lavern 'Mike' Lippert, 80, of Clyde, died Oct. 16, 1999, at Seneca Nursing Home in Waterloo. Mr. Lippert was born in Rose on April 7, 1919, the son of George and Lena Grosz Lippert. He farmed and operated Lippert Brothers Farm in his earlier years. He retired from the Wayne County Veterans Office, as Director, where he served for 10 years. He was a member of the Clyde VFW Post 947 and the American Legion of Clyde. He was a former member of the Clyde Rotary Club. He served in the Army in WW II, and devoted his time to many veteran projects. Interment in Huron Evergreen Cemetery, Wolcott, with full military rites accorded. He is survived by two sons, Joseph (Joline), and James (Mary Lee) of Clyde; one grandchild, Mark; one step-granddaughter, Sabrina; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Zachary; two brothers, Ernest and John; nieces and nephews; good friend, Mary Buttaccio, of Newark.

Siebeneichen, Marion - Marion Siebeneichen, 91, of Newark, died Oct. 16, 1999, at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Siebeneichen was born April 25 1908 in Sodus, the daughter of William and Margaret Neverless Brown. She had lived in Rochester for many years with her husband George, who died May 6, 1986. She was a life member of the Third Methodist Church in Sodus. She was a life member of the Amitie Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star of Newark, and an honorary member of the Paul Chapter OES of Rochester. She was active in the Daughters of the Nile, the Patrol, and the White Shrine. Interment in Grove Place Cemetery, Rochester. She is survived by her sister, Margaret (Peg) Clark; and niece, Sally (James) Westfall both of Newark; nieces and nephews.

Catchman, Vernon Charles - Vernon Charles Catchman, died October 15,1999 after a courageous battle with cancer.Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; sons, Bob (Kammy) and Bill (Donna) and daughter, Kathy (Rick) Puls; his mother Marjorie; sisters, Carol (Joe) Suhr and Bonnie Burgess; six grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. Butch was predeceased by his brother, Jack, and father Morris.

Parker, David J. - David J. Parker, Port Gibson, 41, died October 15, 1999 at ViaHealth in Newark. David was born November 2, 1957 in Plattsburgh. He graduated from Saranac High School in 1976, and studied at the Modern Welding School in Schenectady. After graduating, he became a welder on the bridge crew of the New York State Dept. of Transportation for over 12 years. Dave enjoyed cooking, was an avid bow hunter and outdoorsman who loved hiking and camping. He is survived by his wife, Tammy (Briggs); daughters, Nikisha and Kaja, both at home; his parents, Charles and Madelyn Parker of Saranac; four brothers, Robert of Saranac, Steven of Cadyville, Allen of Plattsburgh, and Christopher of New Paltz; nieces and nephews.

Rood, Donald E. - Donald E. Rood, 68, of Marion, died Oct. 15, 1999. He was a retired Kodak employee and an avid outdoorsman.He is survived by his wife, Margaret S.; daughters, Lana Leddick and companion Bruce Bassage, Linda (Charles) Lyman Jr.; son, Thomas (Debbie) Christensen; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Charles Rood of East Rochester, Norman Rood, Marion, Gary Rood, Palmyra; 3 sisters, Yvonne Norris and Lorraine Mott of Newark, Rita DeMarco of Rochester.

DeVisser, Pieternella - Pieternella 'Nellie' DeVisser, 79, of Newark, died October 12, 1999 in Esterville, Iowa. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. Nellie is survived by daughters, Paula (Donald) VanderBrook of Marion, Nellie (Richard) Turner of Marion, Barbara (Fred) VanderVeen of Sibley, Iowa; son, John DeVisser of Webster; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Leen Goedegebuure of Johnson, NY; three sisters and two brothers in Holland. She was predeceased by her husband, David.

Dabb, Albert Henry - Albet Henry Dabb, 88, formerly of Clark, NJ and Port Charlotte, FL, died Sunday, October 17, 1999 at the ViaHealth of Wayne Newark campus. Mr. Dabb was born March 6, 1911 in Linden, NJ, the son of Albert H. and Carrie Blancke Dabb. He was a graduate of Linden High School and Newark College of Engineering. He retired from Exxon (Bayway Refinery) after 40 years as a civil engineer. In 1987, he and his wife, Eleanor, resettled to Port Charlotte, FL, and in 1995 he came to Newark to live with his daughter. Mr. Dabb was an active amatuer radio operator (WZCAY) all his life. He was a member of various organizations including Quarter Century Wireless Association, Peace River Repeater Association, American Littoral Society, American Audubon Society, Clark, NJ Historical Society and NJIT Alumni and Exxon Annuitant groups. Interment in Rosehill Cemetery, Linden, NJ. Mr. Dabb is survived by his daughter, Linda (Kurt) Werts of Newark; three grandchildren, Carrie (A.J.) Magnan of Alexandria, VA; Sarah Werts and Matthew Werts, both of Newark; and a great-grandson, John Franklin Magnan. He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor, who died in 1990.

Clevenger, Helen J. - Helen J. Clevenger of Newark, 71, died October 20, 1999, at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Helen was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Penn Yan, the daughter of Charlie and Arlie Mae Taylor Breckenridge. She had worked for Seneca Foods and for the C.H. Stuart Company of Newark. She was a life member of the Arcadia Memorial Post V.F.W. in Newark in Newark and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lyons. She was also a member of the the Woman of the Moose in Berkeley Springs, WV, and a member of A.A.R.P. Helen is survived by her husband of 37 years, John; three stepdaughters, Helen M. Slef of Rusk, TX, Orintha Silver of Flushing, and Sandy of CA; two stepsons, Fred Celevenger of South Butler and Phil Clevenger of Pittsford; two brothers, Robert Breckenridge of Scottsville and Jack Breckenridge of Penn Yan; 10 step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Hillman, Mable H. - Mable H. Gresens Hillman, of the DeMay Living Center, age 83, died October 13, 1999. She was predeceased by her husband, Clair in 1992. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Ken) DeKing of Wolcott; son, Richard (Bev) Hillman of Williamson; 3 grandsons and one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren, Anna DeKing and Isaac DeKing both of Newark.

Bridge, Infant Hannah - Hannah Parker Bridge was born on October 16 and died October 17, 1999. She is survived by her parents, Kimberly and Todd Bridge of Macedon; sister, Mykenna and brother, Justin; grandparents, Ronald (Hyang) Smith of Marion, Michael (Linda) Bridge of Greece; great-grandparents, Cyril Smith of Marion and Lucille Bridge of Pittsburgh, PA.

Webb, Infant Mckenzie - Mckenzie Webb, age one month, died unexpectedly Oct. 15, 1999 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Interment in Riverview Cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Myranda Webb; her sister, Kayla Webb; her brother, David Webb; her grandmother, Pam Bowles of Newark; great-grandparents, Dallas and Betty Jackson; aunts, uncles and cousins.

McClellan, Margaret - Margaret McClellan, 95, of New Hartford, formerly of Newark, died Oct. 20, 1999 at St. Joseph Nursing Home. Margaret was born Feb. 8, 1904, in Newark, the daughter of the late Joseph Walter and Maveret Williams McClellan. She graduated from Newark Schools in 1921. She received her B.A. degree from Mt. Holyoke College in 1925, and her M.A. from Columbia University in 1934. Miss Margaret McClellan taught History and, Latin in the Carthage Schools from 1925 to 1929. From 1929 until her retirement in 1966, she taught History and Economic at Utica Free Academy. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Utica, its altar society, St. Hilda's Guild, the Society of Companions of the Holy Cross, and was an associate of St. Margaret. She was a 50-year member of the American Assn. of University Women, Mohawk Valley Branch. She was also a member of the New Century Club, the B Sharp Club, the Mt. Holyoke Club and the Clan McClellan. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by brother, Eugene W. McClellan of Newark; several nieces and nephews.

Mattoon, Ida L. - Ida L. Mattoon, 95, of Clifton Springs, died Oct. 21, 1999 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Interment in Resthaven Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Walter G. (Margaret) Mattoon of Clifton Springs; daughter, Dorothy (Vincent) Ross of Clifton Springs; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Raymond) Price of Newark; brother, George (Phyllis) Zeger of Phelps; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Mattoon; daughter, Jean Darling; and son, Robert Mattoon.

Kymble, Lorena E. - Lorena E. Kymble, 76, of Marion, died October 23, 1999. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She was a retired Xerox employee and was predeceased by her husband, Robert. She is survived by daughter, Mary Kymble of Waco, TX; two sons, Robert of Marion and John (Susan) of Farmington; granddaughter, Sarah; brother, B. Edward (Ruth) Stafford of Addison, NY; four sisters, Dorothy (William) Rhoton of Irondequoit, Shirley Petralia of Hilton, Ruby (Alonzo) Weber of Sun City, FL and Joan (Max) Mendenhall of Hayward, CA.

Smolinski, David M. - David M. Smolinski, 36, of Lyons, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, October 24, 1999. David was born in Lyons on April 6, 1963, to Peter and Joan Larkin Smolinski. He was an avid hunter, camper, golfer and loved boating. Surviving are his wife Christine of Newark; son, Darren; daughter, Amber; his parents, Peter and Joan Smolinski of North Rose; brother, Dennis (Shannon) Smolinski of Rose; two sisters, Cindy (Robert) Goble of Williamson; Lisa (Jay) Warren of Newark; several nieces, nephews, aunts uncles and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Kevin and Barry.

Steele, Gloria J. - Gloria J. Steele, 48, of Newark, died Oct. 24, 1999 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Gloria was born Aug. 22, 1951, in Roswell, New Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna Palmer Kirby. Interment in Oaklawn Cemetery in Geneva. Klomser, Nellie - Nellie Klomser, 86, of Newark, died peacefully at her home, on October 26, 1999 with her sisters by her side. Nellie was born in Palmyra on April 10, 1913 to Joseph and Julie D'Orazio Longoverde. She retired from Fold-Pak in Newark and was a member of St. Michael Church. Interment at Newark Cemetery. Nellie is surived by her sisters, Rose Fisher of Florida, Lena Fischette of Clyde, Lucy DiZillo of Geneva and Josephine 'Babe' Coleman of Florida, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Petrus and Mary Longoverde.

Swilley, Moses D. - Moses Daniel Swilley, 64, of Lyons/ Newark, died Sunday, October 24, 1999 at ViaHealth of Wayne - Newark. Mr. Swilley was born in Dasher, Georgia on January 28, 1935. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, where he worked in Roll Coating. He served in the U.S. Navy 1956 to 1960. Interment will be at the Bath Veterans National Cemetery in Bath, NY. Mr. Swilley is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Ann Swilley of Rochester; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Smith, Pauline Hinkle and Francis Sparrow; and brother, Laverne Swilley. He was predeceased by his sister, Peggy Rutledge.

Marko, Linda J. - Linda J. Marko, 43, of Lyons, died Sunday Oct. 31, 1999 at Strong Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Linda was born July 24, 1956 in Lyons, a daughter to Richard and Margaret Holland Wadsworth. As a life-long area resident, Linda was employed by Del Rossa Ford and the Wayne County Board of Supervisors, before her illness. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, John A. Marko; two sons, Nicholas and Ryan; brother, Richard (Adelle) Wadsworth, all of Lyons; sister, Kathy (Robert) Eaker of Dunkirk; one aunt, Betty Ann Mastrangelo of Sodus; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Harold P. Knapp; her father, Richard Wadsworth Sr.; and her mother, Margaret Knapp, all in 1999.

Frank, Albert - Albert Frank, 85, of Stanley, formerly of Newark, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan. Mr. Frank was born Oct. 24, 1913 in Phelps, the son of the late Ethern and Alice Rhode Frank. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Phelps Odd Fellows Lodge. Interment in Riverview Cemetery in Phelps. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Snyder-Frank; two sons, Richard (Yvonne) Frank of Newark and David (Linda) Frank of Newark; daughter, Loretta (Fred) Davie of Geneva; five stepchildren, Carl Snyder of Stanley, Donald Snyder of Dundee, Ann (Robert) Grove of Henrietta, James (Darlene) Snyder of Hall and Edward Snyder of Stanley; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Cosgrove, Rev. James R. - The Rev. James R. Cosgrove, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999. Father Cosgrove was ordained as a priest in 1951 and had served at the following parishes: St. Helen's in Gates, St. Michael's in Newark, and the Blessed Sacrament in Rochester. He also was a pastor at the following parishes: Holy Angels in Nunda, St. Gabriel's in Hammondsport, and St. Mary's in Waterloo. For the last two years, he was the chaplain at St. Mary's and Park Ridge Hospitals. Interment in St. Ann's Cemetery in Hornell. He is survived by his brother, the Rev. William J. Cornelius, Richard - Richard Cornelius, 67, of Shortsville, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at his home. He was born March 14, 1932 in Marion, son of Leon and Mary DeRue Cornelius. He was retired from the Pittsford School District, where he had worked as a school bus mechanic. He had served in the U.S. Navy. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kelly; daughter, Vickie Cornelius of Rochester; son, Mark (Laura) Cornelius of Newark; stepson, Shane; and six grandchildren.

Palmer, Roger Clayton - Roger Clayton Palmer, 67, of Newark, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999 at Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. Mr. Palmer was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Newark, the son of Lloyd and Cora Quant Palmer. He was retired from the Finger Lakes Packing Company in Lyons in 1991 with 20 years of service. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ford; three daughters, Cheryl Horton of Newark, Tina (Mike) Tobin of Seneca Falls and Lori (John) Wood of Clyde; two sons, Darl (Laura) of Newark and Edward (Deb) of Lyons; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Hess of Pennsylvania; brother, Leland Palmer of Alaska; several nieces and nephews.

Greening, Clarence R. - Clarence R. Greening, 75, of Lyons, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999. Clarence was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Buffalo, the son of David and Edith Spencer Greening. He was a retired truck driver and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2883 of Newark. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra Kulp Greening; two daughters, Rachel Carr of Tacoma, Washington and Brenda Greening of Newark; son, Arthur of Newark; four grandchildren; brother, Richard Sr. of North Rose; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters.

Glerum, William Arthur - William Arthur Glerum, 51, died suddenly at North West Medical Center in St. Albans, on September 20, 1999. He was born in Palmyra on March 6, 1948, the son of John and Bessie May MacDonald Glerum. He had served in the US Army after graduation. He was employed by Home Depot. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Debbie (Boyer) of Fairfield, five children, Amy Kolb and William Glerum Jr., both of Wolcott, Jeremy, Justin and Jason Glerum of Fairfield; two brothers, Leonard G. Austin of Rochester, and John Glerum Sr., of Union City, TN; sister Kathy Rowella of Tampa, FL; and three grandchildren.

Bastian, Barbara A. (Wahl) - Barbara A. Bastian (Wahl), 54, of Orlando, FL (formerly of Newark and Sodus), died suddenly on November 6, 1999 in Florida. She had worked at the University of Florida at Gainseville for about 10 years and was currently employed at MGM in Florida. Survived by daughters, Jodi Bastian of Newark and Jenni Bastian of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Justin Crane of Newark and Tiffany Murray of Newark; mother, Virginia Wahl of Williamson; sister, Sandra Quance of Newark; a very special friend, Becky Wells of Orlando, FL; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Herman Wahl in 1993.

Adair, Lotie Wilson - Lotie Wilson Adair, 98, of Ann Arbor, Michigan died October 31, 1999. Lotie was born in Chicago on June 4, 1901, the first of 10 children born to Fred P. Wilson and Ada P. Farnsworth Wilson. In 1903, her family moved to New York State, the home of her mother and her grandparents. Her grandfather, Thomas Farnsworth, had a farm near Newark, and raised 10 children there. He died in 1935 at the age of 95, he had 103 descendants at that time. Three of Lotie's brothers, Frederick, William Henry, and John Ziegler Wilson were born in Palmyra between 1904 and 1907. A brother Thomas was born in Marion in 1914 and a sister, Lucy May, born in Arcadia in 1917. Lotie attended Newark High School in 1917. She married Robert W. Adair in 1922; he died in 1970. She is survived by brother, John Z. Wilson; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Lange and Mrs. Elizabeth Richards; sons, Robert F. Adair and John W. Adair. She was predeceased by daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Govaere, in 1988.

Potter, Mary Ann - Mary Ann Potter, 80, of Phelps, died Nov. 13, 1999, at Elm Manor Nursing Home in Canandaigua. Mary was born July 30, 1919 in Sodus, and had lived in the Shortsville, Phelps, and Clifton Springs areas. She was retired from Mobil Chemical in Canandaigua. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Richard) VanCamp of Clifton Springs; two sisters, Salina DeSchepper of Newark, and Emma (Hank) Bassett of Newark; brother, Edmond Toye of Buffalo; and two grandchildren, Keith and Keri VanCamp, both of Clifton Springs. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and son, James.

Shelters, Marian G. - Marian G. Shelters, 82, of Lyons and Newark, died Nov. 12, 1999 at ViaHealth of Wayne. Marian was born in Canastota on May 16, 1917, the daughter of Jesse and Aurelia Miller Getman. In her earlier years, she had worked at Hickox Manufacturing of Lyons, and the Bridge Tavern, and she worked in the cafeteria at the Newark Developmental Center. She had lived in Lyons for 35 years and was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, and the auxiliary to (Newark) August Mauer Post of the American Legion. She is survived by five daughters: Sharon (Bela) Farkas, Joan (Tom) Gravino, Kathleen Phillips, Betty (Ed) Mercurio, all of Newark and Pamela (Curt) Kelsey of Phelps; four sons, James of Canandaigua, Donald (Marlene) of Massachusetts, Ronald (Robin) of Newark and Robert (Cindy) of Lyons; one sister, Alice Bouwens of FL; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard 'Maynard' in December 1994; and three brothers.

Beckens, Dorothy M. - Dorothy M. Beckens, 83, of Sodus, died at The Myers Campus of Wayne Via Health on November 16, 1999. Interment Sodus Rural Cemetery. Mrs. Beckens was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Clark of Sodus Point; three sons, Gerald (Marie Costello), Donald (Sharon), and Harold of Sodus; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth McFaul of Newark: several nieces and nephews.

Bertou, Eleanor E. - Eleanor E. Bertou, 90, of Newark died November 16, 1999 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Bertou was born to Emerson and Dessie Wallace Witchey on February 23, 1909 in Deemer, Mississippi. Mrs. Bertou was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Newark since 1933. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Beatrice and Michael Strong of PA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma (Richard) Drury of TX and Charlotte Sheehe of Canandaigua; sister-in-law, Katherine Witchey of Newark; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bertou was predeceased by her husband, Peter Bertou, January of 1983 and brothers, Henry Witchey and Ralph Witchey.

Jaworski, Frank - Frank Jaworski, 74, of Newark, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at his home, with his wife and daughters by his side. Mr. Jaworski was born the son of Michal and Karolina Blawuta Jaworski, in Chodaczkow Wielkitranopol, Poland on January 1, 1925. He was a member of the Polish Army, serving during World War II. The funeral home flew the Army Flag in honor of his service. Mr. Jaworski came to the United States in 1949. He retired from Hallagan Manufacturing Co. in Newark after 38 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, the Moose Club in Palmyra and the Newark American Legion August Mauer Post 286, where he served twice as Commander. Interment in the Newark Cemetery. Mr. Jaworski is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Christine Harko Jaworski; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and James O'Connell of Newark, and Sandi and Gerard D'Huy of Baldwinsville; four grandchildren: Ryan and Daniel O'Connell, Alexandra and Tyler D'Huy; several nieces and nephews. Two sisters predeceased Mr. Jaworski.

Proper, Dorothy W. - Dorothy W. Proper, 72, of Phelps, died unexpectedly November 15, 1999 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was born in Clifton Springs, on July 10, 1927 and had lived in the area all her life. She retired from the Phelps-Clifton School district after 23 years of service. Prior to this, she had worked at Mary Haers Clothing Store in Phelps. She was a member of the Phelps Baptist Church for 60 years and was a Deconish and had served as a Sunday School Teacher, and as treasurer. She was a leader in the Phelps Girl Scouts, and a volunteer at the Phelps Community Library. Interment in River View Cemetery. Dorothy is survived by, Richard, her husband of 55 years; four daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Wage of Newark, Yvonne Lead of Newark, Diane (Gary) Husk of Clifton Springs and Lorraine (Robert) Cook of Phelps; son, Steven (Margaret) Proper of Clifton Springs; brother, Donald Craig of Palmyra; grandchildren, Christopher (Silvia) Wage of New Jersey, Gregory (Cathy) Wage of Fairport, Kelly Wilson of Illinois, Chad Proper, Brian Proper, both of Newark, Lynne Husk, Abby Husk both of Clifton Springs, Eric Cook, Emily Cook both of Phelps and Kristy Lead and Jeffrey Lead, of Newark; six great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, dear friends and neighbors.

She was born September 11, 1934 in Crystal, WV, daughter to Edward L. and Bell E. (Hartwell) Taylor. Interment, Myrtlewood Cemetery. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Donna Comella and Salvatore Branciforte of Lyons; son, Gary Michael Pilkenton of Lyons; grandson, Anthony J. Ames, Virginia A. - Virginia A. Ames, 92, of Newark, died November 20, 1999 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Formerly of Syracuse, she had lived with her daughter in Newark for the past seven years. She was born December 5, 1906 in Syracuse, the daughter of Harry Albert and Alice Lydia Calahan Miller. She was a member of the University Methodist Church in Syracuse for 90 years and was a current member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. She was an active volunteer with the Syracuse Red Cross, a member of the Syracuse Antique Club and the Syracuse Garden Club. Interment, Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Smith of Newark; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mary Dee Ames of Marcellus, NY; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Edward Ames, Jr. in 1979.

Wessie, Beatrice M. - Beatrice M. Wessie, 95, of Newark, died November 20, 1999, at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Mrs. Wessie was born the daughter of Fred and Flora Dietz Benton on Oct. 21, 1904, in Rochester. She retired from Jackson and Perkins in Newark; she was a past member of the Marion Senior Citizens. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Wessie is survived by her daughters, Audrey Fagner of Newark, and Geraldine (Joe) Stephens of Calif.; grandchildren, Pamela (William) Dean, Trudy (Harold) Breames of CA, Cynthia (Richard) Rappa of Fairport and Duane (Mary) Mumby of CO; seven great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandsons; several nieces and nephews. Lunay, Minnie F. "Min" - Minnie F. "Min" Lunay, 91, of Newark, died Nov. 18, 1999, at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 30, 1907, in Williamson, the daughter of Abram and Wilhemina Leenhouts Faas. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and the Amitie Chapter 473, Order of the Eastern Stars. For many years, Min had been a nurse's aide at the original Newark Hospital. She was also a member of the Newark Country Club, playing golf until the age of 86. Interment the Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her three sons, Jack (Carol) of Newark, Robert of St. Petersburg, FL and James (Gail) of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane York of Laguna Beach, Calif.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard 'Dick' in 1991; a son, Harold in 1990; and three brothers, George, Harry and Michael Faas.

Voellinger, Juanita Bushey - Juanita Bushey Voellinger, 58, of Newark, died November 20, 1999, at her home with all her children by her side. Mrs. Voellinger was born to Paul and Ida Carter Bushey on April 30, 1941 in Plattsburgh. She worked for Garlock Corp. in Palmyra and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Newark. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. Mrs. Voellinger is survived by her sons, Orman Mayville of Newark, and Norman (Virginia) Mayville of Marion; daughters, Lori (Donald) Norsen of Fairville, and Lisa (Daniel) Turner of Newark; grandchildren, Kenny, Samantha, Ryan, Lyn, Sarah, Brian, Matthew, Rae, Nicholas, Adam, Joshua, Danielle, Dylan, Brooke, and Bradley; great-granddaughter, Aleah; brothers, Wilber (Laurie) Bushey, Wilmer (Barbara) Bushey, and Clarence (Kathy) Bushey; sisters, Rayma White, Burna Trumble, Carmelita Bulriss, and Diane Gardner; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Russell was born the daughter of William and Jessie Baxter Fordon on November 4, 1906 in Geneva. She was a graduate of Barnard College. She taught Latin and French in the Millbrook Central Schools. Mrs. Russell was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Tuesday Club, Altar Guild, Flower Guild and the A.A.U.W. Interment, Glenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Russell is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Franklin Russell Sr.; son and daughter-in-law the Hon. Smith, Newland, Sr. - Newland 'Rusty' Smith, Sr., 76, died on November 21, 1999. Rusty was a WWII Army Veteran, member of Newrk VFW and Palmyra Moose Lodge. Menke, Gertrude Vanderbrook - Gertrude Vanderbrook Menke, formerly of Newark, died November 10, 1999, in Milford Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness. She was born in Newark and graduated from Newark High School in 1928. She attended her last class reunion September 1997. She was also a graduate of Cortland State College. Mrs. Menke was a physical education teacher in Herkimer and then in Medina. While her husband served in World War II, she returned to Newark to work for the telephone company. They later moved to Buffalo then to Harris Hill. Mrs. Menke's association with Veterans Hospital spanned more than 40 years. Most recently, she was a volunteer in the home therapy department. Interment in St. Ann's Cemetery in Wells. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard A.; a daughter, Dr. Theresa M. (Robert) Hargrave of Syracuse; three sons, John C. (Susan) of Connecticut; Richard H. (Elaine) of Williamsville, and Michael (Kathleen) of Boston and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph J.

Johnson, Harold A. - Harold A. Johnson, 77, of Melbourne, FL, died at the Holmes Regional Medical Center on November 22, 1999, of natural causes. He was born March 9, 1922, in Marion. A retired USAF major, he was a member of the Elks and the Eastminister Presbyterian Church in Indialantic, FL.He is survived by his wife Nathalie, of Melbourne, FL; son, Steve Johnson of Estill Springs, TN; sister, Myrtle Fagner of Newark; and four grandchildren.

Arseneau, Glenna W. - Glenna W. Arseneau, 66, of Newark, died Nov. 24, 1999 at Via Health Newark Campus. Mrs. Arseneau was born Sept. 12, 1911 in Syracuse, the daughter of Charles and Freida Hossbein Wurth. She was a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.A. and M.A. in botany. She had taught biology in the Lyons Central Schools for 17 years, retiring in 1979. In her retirement years, she had lived in Fairport. Mrs. Arseneau had been a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lyons and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairport. Over the years she had been active in the Girls Scouts, the Lyons Public Library, the American Field Service and many other civic and professional organizations. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by a son, James (Jane) Arseneau, M.D. of Albany; two daughters, Nancy (Barry) Cummings of Delran, NJ, and Marianne (Russell Harris) Arseneau, M.D. of Newark; five grandsons, Jay Cummings, Matthew Cummings, Mark (Gina) Arseneau, David (Kristin) Arseneau and Daniel Harris; and several nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Arseneau, M.D., in 1960; and a brother, Charles Wurth in 1979.

Clevenger, John A. - John A. Clevenger, 64, of Newark, died Nov. 24, 1999 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Clevenger was born July 10, 1935, in Wips Cove, PA, son of Gailey and Sarah Schetrompf Clevenger. He retired from the Garlock Co. of Palmyra in 1987. He had served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hunt, during the Korean conflict. He was a life member of the Arcadia Memorial Post 2883 of the VFW, where he was past commander three times. He had also served as county commander of the V.F.W. and was a life member of the American Legion in Lyons, a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter I of the Waterloo V.F.W. He was also a member of the Moose Club of Berkley Springs, PA, the AARP. and the New York Sheriffs Association. Interment in East Newark Cemetery with full military rites accorded. He is survived by his two daughters, Helen Self of Rusk, Texas, and Orintha Silver of Flushing; two sons, Fred of South Butler and Phil of Pittsford; several grandchildren; two brothers, Orville (Hilda) Scott of Schellsburg, PA, and Arthur of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Orintha (Robert) Orbaker of Newark and Mava Ann Cottle of Loysburg, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Helen, on Oct. 20, 1999 and a son, John Jr., in 1972.

Miller, Harold Rexford - Harold Rexford Miller, 88, of Fayetteville, NC, died November 25, 1999, at the Forest Hill Rest Home. He was a retired musician and a World War II veteran. Interment in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Harold is survived by a son, Frederick H. Miller, and a daughter, Eileen Dorothy Miller, both of Fayetteville, NC; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and brother, Fred Walrath, of Port Saint Lucie, FL.

Bird, Virginia Johnson - Virginia J. Bird, 88, formerly of Newark, died November 21, 1999. Born November 10, 1911 in Newark, she was the daughter of Dr. Dwight F. and Mabel L, Johnson. She attended Newark High School, Linden Hall in Lititz, PA and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, MA. She married Donald R. Bird on September 18, 1937, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987. In Newark, she was a member of the Tuesday Club and the Country Club. In 1960, she and her family moved to Lancaster, PA, where she was a member of the Towne Club and served as president of both the Four Seasons Club and the Women's Auxiliary of the Occupational Development Center. Her optimism brightened the lives of her family and friends and she was dedicated to the well being of the developmentally disabled. Surviving are her sons, John D. Bird of Lancaster, PA and Dr. Thomas D. Bird and his wife Rosaline of Seattle, WA and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Caroline.

Dalley, Robert G. - Robert G. Dalley, 74, of Lyons, died Nov. 27, 1999 at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark campus. Mr. Dalley was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Virgil, NY, the son of Raymond and Helen Carrier Dalley. He served the Wayne County area for 22 years as an artificial inseminator for Eastern A.I.C. of Ithaca. Bob served as an Air Force engineer during World War II in Italy. He had been a member of the American Legion in Homer and the Elks Lodge in Newark. He will be remembered as an avid golfer, caring husband, loving father and grandfather. Interment in Virgil Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth; a daughter, Cynthia (Steve) Croll of Phelps; two grandchildren, Kari (Rob) Durham, Graig Zappia and one great-granddaughter, Laura Durham; a brother, Roland (Martha) Dalley of Summerfield, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Dutcher of Cortland; and a sister-in-law, Margarite Dalley, of Cortland. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Raymond.

Colucci, Ellen J. - Ellen J. Colucci, of Sodus, died at home on November 26, 1999. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James; two children, Nancy (James) Taber of Sodus and Michael (Brenda) Garlock of Sodus Point; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Richmond of Williamson and Eleanor Richmond of Webster; several nieces; close friend and health aide, Pat Freer of Wolcott.

DeJohn, Anthony A. - Anthony A. DeJohn, 82, of Washington St., Newark, died Saturday, December 4, 1999 at his home. Mr. DeJohn was born September 13, 1917 in Lyons, the son of William and Anna DeVito DeJohn. He was a lifetime resident of Newark and a well-known developer in the area. Tony had owned and operated DeJohn Realty, DeJohn Construction Co., and DeJohn Building Inc., and in 1959, DeJohn was a partner in the newly built San-Bowl Lanes in Clifton Springs. Some accomplishments of his enterprises include the Newark senior citizens high rise, some buildings at the Newark Developmental Center, the water treatment plant in Manchester, the Newark hospital, DeJohn Apartments on Washington Street, Newark's Norman R. Kelley School, a school in Victor, and some of the dormitories at State University College at Geneseo. Mr. DeJohn built many homes in Newark, including several on Linden Avenue, and was the general contractor for the restoration and remodeling of the Stuart estate at the corner of Maple Ave. and West Ave. He owned several commercial properties in the area, renting and leasing space to many varied businesses and agencies. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Newark Elks, and the August Mauer American Legion Post. He served with the Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. DeJohn is survived by his wife, Maria, and her children Jackeline and Yenny Hernandez of Newark; five children, Sandra (Robert) Snyder of Phelps, Tim (Peg) of Farmington, Jeanne (Richard) Truini of Pittsford, Tina (Mark) Novosel of Newark, and Robin (Diane) of Newark; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Scoville and Anna Wood, both of Florida; Louise Alvaro of Connecticut, Flora D'Agostino of Penfield, and Dorothy Henderson of Sodus; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Tillie, in 1987; by three brothers, Joseph, William, and Daniel; and by two sisters, Frances Chelenza and Rose Bourne. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Lunay, Minnie F. 'Min' - Minnie F. 'Min' Lunay, 91, of Newark, died Nov. 18, 1999, at the Newark Manor. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Naeye, Margaret B. - Margaret B. Naeye, 93, of Newark, died December 1, at ViaHealth of Newark. Mrs. Naeye was born in Holland February 27, 1906, the daughter of Henry and Jenny Bosie. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church. For over 23 years, she was an attendant at the Newark Developmental Center, retiring in 1971. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by son, Henry Pieters of Palmyra; granddaughter, Pamela Boise of Newark; two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Greg Barker; and great-great-grandson, Derek Crowder. She was predeceased by husband William Naeye in 1995, son Theodore Pieters, and daughter Dorothy Pieters.

Freelove, Allen P. - Allen P. Freelove, 76, of Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Newark, died October 30, 1999. He had a short bout with cancer and died in Asheville, at the VA hospital. Allen was born in Binghamton, to George and Rose Freelove. Later they moved to Cortland. He was a Marine and served in WWII. After being discharged, he graduated from Syracuse University with a major in Business Administration. Allen retired from C.H. Stuart, Inc. with more than 31 years of service. He began his career in the nursery division in Newark and was transferred to St. Joseph, Missouri, as a plant manager. He returned to Newark and continued to work in the nursery division, later transferring to the jewelry operation division until retirement. Allen was involved in the Alex Eligh Community Center and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Newark. He and wife, Alice, moved to Savannah in 1972 to a 100-acre farm and retired to NC 11 years ago. Interment in Hendersonville. He is survived by his wife, Alice, of 52 years; children, George (Marlene) of Houston, TX, Douglas (Dawn) of Phelps, Cynthia (Brad) Timerson of Newark, Rebecca (Larry) Smith of Longwood, FL and Stephen of Geneva; 7 grandchildren, Ryan and Katherine, Todd, Michael and Rebecca, Melissa and Larry, Jr.; sister, Marion Sullivan and mother-in-law, Hazel Greenleaf.

Mander, Lilla - Lilla F. Mander, 78, of Savannah died December 3, 1999 at ViaHealth of Wayne-Newark. Interment in Butler-Savannah Cemetery. Mrs. Mander is survived by four children, Charles of Utica, Nancy (Donald) Bennett of Clyde, Doris Gonyeau of Marcy, and Wava (Bob) Sampson of Savannah; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beryl Gulick of Port Gibson, and Violet Craver of Sodus; brother, Oliver Brown of Palmyra; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gray, Beatrice E. - Beatrice E. Gray, 81, of Armstrong Living Center, Newark, died December 2, 1999 at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mrs. Gray was born March 11, 1999, in Sodus, the daughter of Arthur and Bertha Ellis. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. In 1980, she retired from Garlock Inc., in Palmyra, where she had worked for over 27 years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 229 in Palmyra. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her two sons, Gerald (Bonnie) Hamelynck of Palmyra and Gene (Sandra) Hamelynck of Newark; daughter, Bonnie Capone of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Gene Hamelynck Jr., Candy Fenty and Terry Hamelynck; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Fenty and Stephen and Joshua Hamelynck; sister, Winifred Nieskes of Newark; brother, Gary Ellis of Deltona, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Leo Hamelynck and Howard Gray; and three brothers, George, Al and Linwood Ellis.

Parkison, Larry James - Larry J. Parkison, 64, formerly of Clifton Springs, died November 18, 1999 in North Charleston, SC. Mr. Parkison is survived by his wife, Shirley Hardenbrook Parkison; sons, Jim (Teri) of Charleston, Howard (Sharon) of Newark; daughters, Lisa (Bryan) Burns of Phelps and Trudy Cornwell of Newark; 13 grandchildren; brother, Reverend Fred (Florence) Parkison of Newark; sisters, Ida Mae (Richard) Flanders and Alberta (Bob) MacKay of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Lotzow, Mary Alice - Mary Alice Lotzow of Clifton Springs, 90, died December 5, 1999. Rydberg, Donald M. - Donald M. Rydberg of Marion, 82, died December 7, 1999. He was a retiree of Farrell Corporation. Reiners, Mary Rose - Mary Rose 'Grandma Mary' Reiners, 66, of Summit Drive, Newark, died suddenly on December 7, 1999, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mary was born the daughter of Michael J. and Carmen Bilotta Trozzo on April 29, 1933, in Newark. She was a member of St. Michael Church in Newark. She had a special love for children and volunteered at Roosevelt Children's Center in the Foster Grandparent Program. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Harry Reiners; son and daughter-in-law, David and Elaine Reiners of Fairport; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Randy Van Gee of Newark; two grandsons, Christopher Reiners and Shawn (Val) Van Gee; two great-granddaughters; sister and brother-in-law Roseanne and Carl Blankenburg of Macedon; nephew, Mike Blankenberg; special friends, Trixie Volpe and Grace Kreuger; friends at Roosevelt Center. She was predeceased by her father in 1984 and her mother in 1994.

Lawrence, Ella E. - Ella E. Lawrence, 92, of New Bern, North Carolina, formerly of Newark, died December 12, 1999. She was born June 19, 1907 in Town of Lawrence, St. Lawrence County; pre-deceased by her parents, Charles and Martha Lawrence and her brother, Howard Lawrence. She was a graduate of Canton University. She was a dietitian, employed by New York State for 36 years as a food service manager. Survivors include her special friend, Betty Cottrell of Sodus; Everett and Carol Briggs of Sodus; nieces and nephews. She was active in the First Baptist Church, with special interest in Lend-A-Hand; was a charter member of the Wayne County Action Volunteers, earning a 25-year pin; member of DAR, Order of the Eastern Star, BPW and King's Daughters. In her 90th summer, she and nephew, Joe Lawrence, made a surprise visit to her friends in Newark.

Ashmore, Barbara Y. - Barbara Y. Ashmore, 66, formerly of Lyons, died Dec. 3, 1999 in Glendale, Arizona. Barbara was born in Lyons on July 31, 1933, daughter of Stephen and Myrtle Feiock Yaskow. She worked in a chiropractor office in Arizona and attended West Town Baptist Church in Glendale, where she lived since 1981. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Glendale; daughter, Karen (Edward) Land of Lyons; three sons, James Higgs of Phoenix, Mark Higgs of Lyons, Matt Ashmore of Glendale; two step-children; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Yaskow of Newark, and Ron Yaskow of Lyons; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Clark, Adelaide Covell - Adelaide Covell Clark, 85, of Newark died Dec. 10, 1999 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Adelaide was born in Rochester on July 13, 1914, daughter of Stanley and Evangeline Fairchild Covell. She was a graduate of Monroe High School in Rochester. She spent most of her life in Newark, where she was active in Girl Scouts, the Welcome Wagon, DAR Daughters and Founders of Patriots of America, the Wayne County and Arcadia Historical Societies, and the Ladies Circle of Park Presbyterian Church. She spent many enjoyable summers at Holland's Cove in Pultneyville, on Lake Ontario. She worked at the Election Polls for many years. Adelaide is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bruce P. Clark, Sr.; three children, Bruce P. Clark, Jr. of Rochester, David C. (Linda) Clark of Pittsford, and Mary (Richard) Adriaansen of Marion; seven grandchildren, Gregory, Thomas, Kenneth, and Michael Clark, Douglas, Paul, and Carl Adriaansen; niece, Sally Small Worthing-Davies of Swindon, U.K. She was predeceased by a sister, Peggy C. Small of Rochester.

Keukelaar, Helen L. - Helen L. Keukelaar, 72, of Macedon, died December 12, 1999. She was a member of the Macedon American Legion Auxiliary, and charter member of the Macedon Firemen's Auxiliary. Interment in Macedon Village Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Eugene; two daughters, Sandra (James) Snyder of Phelps, Melody (Richard) Austin of Newark; three sons, David (Beverly), Keith (Lisa), Daniel (Jean) all of Macedon; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, William Kimball of Macedon, Howard (Ruth) Kimball of Canandaigua. Predeceased by a sister, Colleen Bauer.

Higby, Alice Wilder - Alice Wilder Higby, 91, of Newark, died December 7, 1999 at her home in Honeoye Falls. Mrs. Higby was born January 1, 1908 in Newark, the daughter of Ralph and Lillie Genthner Wilder. She was a 1928 graduate of Wellesley College and a lifetime member of the American Association of University Women. Mrs. Higby was a long-time resident of the Mohawk Valley and had taught English at Herkimer High School during the 1930's. Following the 1991 death of her husband, Lincoln B. Higby, she moved to Honeoye Falls to be near her daughter. Interment was in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter Constance (James) Reed of Fairport; two granddaughters Kirsten Reed of Burbank, Ca. And Victoria Redd Schubert of Zurich, Switzerland.

Bloom, Clarence 'Otis' - Clarence 'Otis' Bloom, 74, of Newark, died December 12, 1999 at Genesee Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Bloom was born on February 25, 1925 in Newark, to Clarence and Ora Beadle Bloom. He was a 1945 graduate of Newark High School. Mr. Bloorn retired from Fold-Pak Corp. in Newark in 1987, after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Newark First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in East Newark Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Mr. Bloom is survived by his wife Myrtle Barnmaker Bloom; sisters-in-law Lillian Strong of Florida and Josephine Bloom of Troy; brother-in-law, Russell Barnmaker of Lyons; two nephews, Gary Bloom of Rochester and John (Kathy) Bloom of Troy; niece, Linda Garcia of Rochester; many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Ivan and Roger.

Somerset, Albert E. - Albert E. Somerset, 82, of Marion, died Dec. 13, 1999. He was WWII Army veteran, 81st Infantry Div. and a retired Kodak supervisor. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; four daughters, Christine (David Wright) Somerset of Ashland, OR; Penelope (Jim Woody) Somerset of Marion; Elise (Richard Morgan) Somerset of North Chili; Melonie (Michael) Clapp of Indianapolis; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, John (Veronica) Somerset of Tequesta, FL; two sisters, Marian Root of Greenfield, MO, Beatrice (Harold) Weigert of Victor.

Fradin, David W. - David W. Fradin, 53, of Newark, died suddenly on December 11, 1999. David was born April 18, 1946 in Buffalo, son of Eugene and Marion Russell Fradin. He was raised in Williamsville. A 1968 graduate of Cornell University, he earned his Ph.D. in Applied Physics at Harvard University in 1973. He was a scientist and had been an executive with various electronic companies throughout the country. He attended the Park Presbyterian Church and was serving on the Board of Directors of Via Health of Wayne. A tenor, David had been rehearsing to sing with the Finger Lakes Chorale presentation of the 'Messiah.' He had served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was active with various civic causes in the areas where he had lived.He is survived by his wife, Mary, and their children, Christopher and Paula Fradin, at home; survived by his previous wife, Barbara Gambee of Exton, PA; their children, Christina (Fred) Daniels of Monroe, Riesha (Jeff) Tapolci of Canonsburg, PA and Daniel (fiancee, Kelly An) of Philadelphia; five grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Carol) of Williamsville; two sisters, Karen (James) Menton of Roswell, GA and Judith (James) Slowey of Lockport.

Martin, Grace S. - Grace S. Martin, 76, of Newark, died December 21, 1999 in Bethlehem, PA. Mrs. Martin was born August 13, 1923 in Clifton Springs. For many years she was a registered nurse at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. After retiring, she spent the winters in Leesburg, FL and summered at her cottage on the Erie Canal in Newark. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her son, William (Dawn) of Bethlehem, PA and three grandchildren, Andrew, Arina and David. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard J. Martin in 1992.

Faraone, Rev. David Joseph - The Rev. David Joseph Faraone, 43, died December 19, 1999. He was Pastor of the Church of the Epiphany in Sodus and Mission of St. Rose of Lima in Sodus Point. He is survived by his three exchange sons, Martin G. Vaars, Andre L. Sclemper and Michael Parzonka; brother, Donald (Marie); sisters, Mary (Fred) Vera and Linda A. Darrell is a retiree of Xerox Corp., veteran of the Korean Conflict, life member of the Pultneyville United Methodist Church. He was Past Commander of the Williamson American Legion, an auctioneer and real estate salesman for several years, Democratic Committee Chairman, and chairman of the Apple Blossom Committee. Flynn, Elizabeth A. - Elizabeth A. Flynn, 62, of Sodus, died December 25, 1999. Interment in Lake View Cemetery in Pultneyville. DeLisio, Louis A. - Louis A. DeLisio, 75, of Clyde, died Dec. 24, 1999 following a brief illness. Mr. DeLisio was born in Clyde on November 13, 1924, the son of John and Jane Janto DeLisio. On July 19, 1951, he married the former Arley Mae Lochner. Mr. DeLisio was active in both the business and political communities of Wayne County. He owned and operated a Western Auto store for 25 years in Clyde and also owned stores in Waterloo and Wolcott. In his political career, his accomplishments included serving as the mayor of Clyde from 1976-84, where he was noted for his strong fiscal policies and success in obtaining grants for projects such as the water storage facilities, water and sewer lines, drainage improvements and improvements to the village highway facilities. He served as supervisor of the Town of Galen from 1984-85, and 1988-1999. At the time of his death, he chaired the Wayne County Social Services Committee. He was a member of the study group that recommended formation of the Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority; he became a charter board member and currently served as treasurer. Mr. DeLisio was a member of the Clyde Fire Department for 56 years. In 1980, he was awarded the Clyde Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year Award. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Newark Council for more than 50 years. He was past president of the Wayne County Chapter of the NYS Assn. for Retarded Children. He was treasurer and board member of the Wayne County Action Program. He was involved as a board member of the Lyons Community Hospital, an executive committee member of the Genesee Regional Planning Council, an executive committee member of the Genesee Transportation Council, a member of the Regional Economic Development Council, and a member of the Private Industry Council. He represented Wayne County on the Inter-County Assn. of New York and also was a charter board member of the Western Finger Lakes Solid Waste Authority. He was a lifetime resident of Clyde and a member of St. John's Church. Surviving are his wife, Arley Mae DeLisio of Clyde; son, Jack (Sharon) DeLisio of Fairport; two brothers, Rudolph DeLisio of Clyde and Michael (Rita) DeLisio of West Bloomfield, Michigan; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; his mother-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Johnson, Edwin, Sr. - Edwin E. Johnson Sr., 79, of Farmington died December 28, 1999 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. Edwin served in WWII in the Army Corp. of Engineers Eighth Infantry Division. He retired in 1982 from the Garlock Packing Co. after 45 years of service. Interment in Farmington Friends Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Edwin E. Johnson Jr. of Farmington, Floyd G. of Newark, Randall L. of Manchester; daughter, Kimberly A. Roets of Newark; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Johnson of Shortsville.

LaGasse, Wilbur J. - Wilbur J. LaGasse, 85, of Walworth, died December 28, 1999. He was a retired farmer and a Town of Marion Highway Dept. employee. Interment in Furnaceville Cemetery, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife Esther Belle. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Hermanet, Florence Martin, Katherine VanBortel, Gertrude Gill, Elsie Gill and Wilhemina Markarian; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Goldsworthy, Alice - Alice Evelyn Goldsworthy, 97, of Marion, died December 29, 1999. Interment in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Phelps. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Leo Goldsworthy and a daughter, Joan Osterholdt. Survived by her step-children, Janet (Valere) Upchurch, Walden, Jane (John) Rutkus, Penfield, John C. (Karee) Goldsworthy, Los Gatos, CA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Bouwens, Terry - Terry L. Bouwens, 42, of Vienna Estates, Newark, died Dec. 29, 1999 at the DeMay Living Center. Terry was born May 24, 1957 in Newark, to Franklin A. and Alma L. Rahm Bouwens. He was a production worker for 15 years at Mobil Chemical Company in Macedon. He was also a member of the Lutheran Church in Newark. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his two daughters, Jamie Bouwens and Jennifer Bouwens of Newark; his parents, Franklin A. and Alma Bouwens; two brothers, Franklin (Angela) Jr. of Spencerport and Gordon (Wanda) of Palmyra; grandson, Andrew Lee; special nieces, Suzie (Cody) and Amy; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mays, Frederick J. Sr. - Frederick J. Mays Sr., 57, of Norton St., Newark, died Dec. 31, 1999, at Rochester General Hospital. Fred was born in Syracuse, Aug. 6, 1942, the son of William and Bertha Phillips Mays. He had worked at Agway in Lyons for 10 years. Interment in Lyons Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Harrington Mays; son, Edwin of Newark; three daughters, Tammy Mays of Jordan, Patricia (Thomas) Doucet of South Carolina, Gina Mays of Newark; his stepfather, Edwin Phillips of Lyons; two sisters, Linda (Joel) Hixon of Newark and Carol DeRoo of Newark; brother, Edwin (Susan) Phillips of Newark; five grandchildren; special friend, Bucky Fabino of Newark; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Frederick Jr. in 1997.

Wahl, Gerald - Gerald C. Wahl, 64, of Lakeland, formerly of Sodus, died December 31, 1999 at his residence in Lakeland, FL. Gerald was born June 2, 1935 at Sodus. He attended Sodus schools, playing basketball, baseball and soccer. He enlisted in the US Army in 1955. Gerald and his father owned and operated Clifford Wahl & Son J.I. Case Equipment Dealer, in Sodus. He was a deputy for the Sheriff's Department in Wayne County, and Greenwood County, Kansas. He moved to Florida from Kansas in 1987. Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann Wahl of Lakeland; son, Clifford Wahl of Lakeland; sister, Carol Datthyn of Sodus; his mother, Pearl Wahl of Newark; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Wahl in 1967.
