DeMay, Larry - Larry M. DeMay, 60, of Manchester, died December 28, 2004 at Hospeace House in Naples. A service was held at the United Methodist Church in Manchester. Larry was born April 16, 1944, in Canandaigua, son of Maynard and Jessie DeMay. He attended Manchester High School and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was owner and operator of DeMay Trucking in Manchester. He is survived by his wife, Linda D. DeMay; two daughters, Janet DeMay of Clifton Springs and Amanda DeMay of Ocala, Florida; his mother, Jessie DeMay of Manchester; a brother, Gordon (Kathy) DeMay of Palmyra; two sisters, Linda (Jon) Holbrook of Canisteo, and Beanie (Larry) Hill of Falconer; a stepdaughter; Shaun (Buck) Mercer of Allentown, Pennsylvnia; and several stepgrandchildren. Devereaux, Lillian Earle - Lillian Earle Devereaux, 84, of Clifton Springs, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard. She is survived by her son, Richard (Gail) Devereaux; daughtter, Laurie Ann (Patrick) Devereaux; & grandson, Toby Devereaux. Berg Linda A. - Linda A. Berg, 51, of Sodus, died December 29, 2004. She was a secretary of the Sodus Central School, Vice President of the CSEA Union, member of the Cancer Action Group of Wayne County. Survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Mark H. Berg; loving and special children, Christine Williams of Jamestown, Andrew Berg of Syracuse, Adam Berg of SC; brother, Bruce Foster of Oklahoma; sisters, Janet (Carl) Barnett of Youngstown, OH, Cindy Rivers of Youngstown, OH; mother-in-law, Archangel Berg of Syracuse; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Bradley, Charlotte Marie (Lester) - Charlotte Marie (Lester) Bradley, formerly of Marion, of Zephyr Hills, Florida, died December 31, 2004. Downey, Janet D. - Janet D. Downey , 84, of the Rose Garden Apartments died Friday, December 31, 2004 at the Geneva General Hospital. Mrs. Downey was born on January 19, 1920 in Newark, the daughter of James and Anna Daus DeCann. Retiring in 1979, Janet had worked at Garlock, Inc. for 30 years where she hadbeen a secretary and sales representative. She was a member of the Port Gibson Senior Citizens. She is survived by a son, William (Gwendolyn) Banckert of Newark; a daughter Barbara (Thomas) Lantier of Newark; three grandchildren Tracie Waite, Tina LaLone and T.J. Lantier; three great-granddaughters Sara, Jacqueline, Cordelia; a brother James (Phyllis) DeCann of Ontario; a sister Irene (Erling "Corky") Ridley. DeMeyer, David. D. - David D. DeMeyer, 55, of Ridley Rd., Newark, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Dave was born in Clifton Springs on August 8, 1949, the son of John and Ellen Martsteiner DeMeyer Jr. He operated the Tire Rack in Newark for 23 years. He was an avid hunter and loved his camp in the Southern Tier. Friends may call Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope Ave., Newark, from 2-4, where a Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm. Dave is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dottie DeNauro DeMeyer; 2 sons, Matthew and Mitchell DeMeyer of Newark; his mother, Ellen DeMeyer, of Newark; a sister, Barbara Abbott of Shortsville; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Kibler, Joseph N. - Joseph N. Kibler, 89, of Church St., Newark, died December 28, 2004 at the Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Kibler was born on August 1, 1915, in Leroy,, NY, the son of Joseph and Jennie Wilson Kibler. He retired in 1974 from the Newark Developmental Center where he had been a painter for over thirty years. Joe had served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a member of the August Mauer Post 286, of the American Legion and the Newark Elks Club. Services were private and at the convenience of the family with burial in Newark Cemetery. Hie is survived by his three daughters, Susan (Ronald) Mourey of Newark, Paula (Greg) Simmons of Jordan, and Kathy (Evan) Shussett of Buffalo; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two brothers, Frederick and Wilson Kibler of CA. Crane, Ruby S. - Ruby S. Crane, 93, of Walworth, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Crane was born in Rochester on July 22, 1911, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Rummes Smith. Ruby had been an executive housekeeper for many years at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Private funeral services were held on Friday, December 31, 2004 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home in Newark. Burial will be in Mumford Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter Rev. Gayle Rose of Walworth; four grandchildren, Cindy (Gary) VanKouwenburg of Palmyra, Gary (Michelle) Rose of Palmyra, Shawn (Kate) Rose of Canandaigua, and Timothy (Nancy) Rose of Walworth; and ten great grandchildren. Cunningham, Anne - Dolores Anne (Lynch) Cunningham, 72, of Palmyra, died December 25, 2004, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Anne sold real estate and was an appraiser, but her favorite employment was as a school bus driver. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Helen Lynch, her son Thomas Cunningham and brother, Gerald Lynch. She is survived by her husband Thomas 'T.J.' Cunningham, daughter Penny (Bruce) Hankin; twin brothers, Richard (Phyllis) and Robert (Nancy) Lynch; daughter-in-law, Linda Cunningham; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and cousins. The Lynch family was one of Palmyra's oldest, having settled here in 1817. Arrangements entrusted to the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 West Main St., Palmyra. Kulp, David - David Richard Kulp, 46, of Sodus, died unexpectedly on December 25, 2004. He was the owner of Pro Auto Parts in Williamson, for 20 years. He is predeceased by his father, Ronald in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kulp-Petty; son, Matthew David Kulp; mother, Patricia; sister, Susan (John) Jay and Ronnalee (Paul) Freitas; brother, James (Donna) Kulp; and nieces and nephews. Hethcoat-Petty, Deborah - Deborah Anne Hethcoat-Petty, 50, of Newark, died suddenly on December 27, 2004 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Deborah was born September 26, 1954 in Newark, daughter of Edward and Rose Mary Pizzirusso Hethcoat. She graduated from Newark High School in 1972 and attended Finger Lakes Community College, where she received an AAS degree. She worked as a secretary for several years at the Newark Developmental Center. Deborah enjoyed walking and photography. She will be remembered by her father, Edward Hethcoat of Newark; brothers E. Michael Hethcoat and fiancee Barbara Saccone, both of Irondequoit, and Thomas (Nora) Hethcoat of Virginia; sisters Roxanne (Joseph) Grieco of Pennsylvania, Rebecca (Dale) Vandigo of Louisiana, Marie (David) Brumm of Floriday, several nieces and nephews; one uncle, four aunts and many friends. McDonnell, Reverend Joseph M. Rev. Joseph M. McDonnell, 99, died on Friday, December 24, 2004 at Rochester General Hospital. Father McDonnell will lie in state from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29 at St. Michael Church, South Main St., Newark, N.Y. The Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and all are invited to a 7 p.m. service of evening prayers. St. Michael's Church will be open for visitation at 9 a.m. on Thursday. The Most Reverend Bishop Matthew H. Clark will celebrate Father McDonnell's Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Church, Newark. Interment will follow in the Newark Cemetery. Memorial gifts in his memory may be made to St. Michael's Church or St. Michael School, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513. Father McDonnell was born on January 12, 1905 in Bath, the fourth son of Miles and Joanna Scanlan McDonnell. He was educated at Bath elementary school and attended both St. Andrew's and St. Bernard's Seminary. Father McDonnell was ordained into the priesthood on June 7, 1930. His first assignments were eight years as Assistant Pastor at Holy Rosary Church and three years at St. Mary's both in Rochester. In 1941, he became the Chaplain at the State Agricultural and Industrial School in Industry, NY. His first pastorate was St. Gabriel's Church in Hammondsport along with the mission church of St. Patrick's in Prattsburg. Father McDonnell then became Pastor of St. Ignatius Church in Hornell before coming to Newark in 1957 where, right away, he launched a drive to construct an addition to the school for a combination auditorium and gymnasium, which was dedicated in 1961. At a ceremony on December 6, 1998, the facilities were rededicated and named The Father Joseph M. McDonnell Hall. Father McDonnell was Pastor of St. Michael Church until his retirement in June of 1975. In his retirement, Father Joe continued as Pastor Emeritus of St. Michael Church until he moved to the McAuley Center in Rochester on September 1, 1999. A fourth degree member of the Newark Council #897, Knights of Columbus, Father McDonnell was also the Spiritual Director of St. Michael's Rosary and Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. He had been a life member of the Newark Country Club. Over the years he had been active on several civic committees in the Village of Newark. He'll be long remembered for his deep devotion in faith, his loving Irish wit and blessings and his playfully breaking into a song. Father McDonnell is survived by nephew Edward (Joann) McDonnell, nieces Joanne (Tom) Koch and Therese (Jim) Dudden, several great nephews and nieces, cousins and his parish family at St. Michael Church and many friends through out the area. Gray, Allan E. Allan E. Gray, 75, died December 28, 2004 at Blossom View Nursing Home, Sodus.He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. A retiree from Gannett Newspapers as a district manager; life member of the Pultneyville United methodist Church; member of the Williamson American Legion post #394; 50 year member of the Williamson Odd Fellows; Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club and an avid golfer. Jones, Gordon (Red, Bucky) - Gordon (Red, Bucky) Jones, of Marion/San Antonio, TX, died December 20, 2004, at age 76 at the Harlingen Medical Center in Texas following a brief illness. Bearden, Mary J. -  Mary Joan Bearden, 65 died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the DeMay Living Center. Mary was born the daughter of LaMoyne and Margaret Kahler Bearden on December 29, 1938 in Rochester, New York. She enjoyed country music, singing and baking. Brundidge, Beulah M. - Beulah M. Brundidge, 77, of Broadway Road, Wolcott, died Wednesday (Dec. 15, 2004) at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Memorial service and calling hours will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to W.A.V.A.C., New Hartford Street, Wolcott, NY 14590; or the Wolcott Fire Department, West Port Bay Road, Wolcott 14590. Beulah was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Rochester, the daughter of Leland and Elva Jeffers Morrison. She was a resident of Wolcott for most of her life and attended First Presbyterian Church of Wolcott. Beulah was active with the Wayne County Republican Party and was deputy commissioner for the Wayne County Board of Elections for many years. She was a former member of the Women's Republican Club of Wayne County and former secretary of STOP-DWI Program of Wayne County and was past member and chairman of the Wayne County Traffic Safety Board. She had been active in and a past president of W.A.V.A.C. She was also active in four senior citizens clubs in the area. She is survived by two sons, Steven (Marcia) Brundidge and Robert (Karen) Brundidge Jr., both of Wolcott; one brother, Lloyd Richard 'Bud' (Ann) Morrison of Florida; one sister, Norma Jean (Karl) Signor of Florida; four grandchildren, Brian (Lynn) Brundidge, Jason (Jessica) Brundidge, Amy Brundidge and Tiffany (Bryan) Reynolds; six great-grandchildren, Curtis, Kaitlin, Gavin and Cole Brundidge and Michael and Brandon Laird-Brundidge; three step-great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jonathan and Elizabeth Reynolds; and a sister-in-law, Edith Brundidge Laursen. She was pre-deceased by her h usband, Robert Brundidge Sr. in 1988; her step-father, Clifford Wilsey; and an infant son, Michael Patrick Brundidge. Bastian, Janice P. - Janice P. Bastian, 54, of Maple St., Lyons, died Saturday, December 18, 2004 peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends. Predeceased by her father, John C. Perry in 2000. Survived by her loving husband Steven; 3 children, Kelley (Robert) Borrelli, Matthew (Kendra) Bastian, David Bastian, all of Lyons; 6 grandchildren, Erica, Corey, Colbey John, Hunter, Connor, and Jenna; mother, Arleen Perry of Florida; brother, Richard Perry of Georgia; sister, Linda Hedrick of Washington; niece and nephew, Brad and Amy Hedrick. Janice was born in Yonkers, NY, on June 18, 1950, a daughter to John C. and Arleen Heidgerd Perry. She was employed for the past 12 years at the Wayne ARC as a mental health caregiver, she was a former bus driver for the Lyons School District, and was a past secretary for the Lyons Presbyterian Church. Vickery, Robert L. Jr.  - Robert Lewis Vickery Jr., "Bob", 58, of Newark,  died suddenly Friday, December 17, 2004.  Bob was born the son of the late Robert L. Sr. and Johanna Hitchscheid on March 19, 1946 in Geneva. He worked for Refraction Technology in the factory. Bob was a member of the Newark VFW and the Newark American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, watching movies, playing the horses and reading to his grandchildren. Mattoon, Joseph - Joseph Mattoon, 79, of Phelps, died December 12, 2004 at Geneva Living Center North. Joseph was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Clifton Springs, son of Joseph Sr. and Lucy Scherbyn Mattoon. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Phelps American Legion Seeley B. Parish Post 457. Joe was a member of the Big M Game Club and the Buckhorn Sportsmen's Club. He was a master mechanic of heavy equipment for the Operating Engineers Local Union 832 in Rochester. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mattoon of Phelps; two sons, Joseph John III and Michael Francis, both of Phelps; three daughters, Cynthia Mattoon of Billings, Montana; Judith Ann (Frank) Sibio of Clay, and Mary Jo (David) Shackleton of Geneva; two sisters, Theresa (Lyle) Baker of Clifton Springs and Mary Ann Burm of Newark; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Genecco, Angeline Marie - Angeline Marie Genecco, 86, of Florida, formerly of Newark, died December 10, 2004 at the Broward Nursing & Rehab Center. Angeline Marie was born in Newark on October 20, 1918, the daughter of James and Mary Jelomono DeJohn. For many years, she owned and operated with her late husband Peter, the De John Superette on East Union Street. Before moving to Florida 18 years ago, she was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion Auxiliary. Marie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (James) Roberts of Cooper City, Florida; two granddaughters, Mary (Steven) Flock and Christina (Robert) Ochampaugh, two great-granddaughters, Gabrelle Ochampaugh and Heather Flock; three brothers - Ralph (Marie) De John of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Michael (Ange) De John of Newark, and Louis (Phyllis) De John of Newark; sister Ann Lawson of Lyons; a sister-in-law Patricia DeJohn of Newark; nieces and nephews. Ayer, Elmore - Elmore Charles Ayer, 87, formerly of Clyde, died December 12, 2004 in Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise, sons Jim (Kathy) and Chris (Celia), daughter Barbara (Lance) Angerhofer, daughter-in-law Jane Erbe, and six grandchildren. He served as a WWII officer in Northern Africa and in Italy with the 209th Army Coast Artillery. After the war, while living in Bryan, Ohio, he developed processes for electrolytic capacitors and designed and built machines that allowed for the miniaturizing of the electronics industry. In 1969, he founded Ayer Engineering in Tucson, AZ. He was active with the Saguaro Rotarians.

She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Mildred Gary; three brothers, Nelson, Floyd, and Lawrence Warner; and four sisters, Theda Churcher, Ethel Brown, Bertha Warner and Julia Gardner.

Peter was born the son of Peter and Alamo McGill VanLare on July 20, 1912, in Brighton, NY. Mr. VanLare was a machinist at Bloomer Bros. Upon retiring he and his wife relocated to Arizona. Maurie was born the son of the late William and Myrtle DeVall Warner on March 31, 1927 in the town of Arcadia. He was a graduate of Newark Central Schools in 1944. Maurie was a sales rep at Prudential Financial in Newark and at one point was Staff Manager at the Pittsford office. Maurie was past chairman of the board for Newark Wayne Community Baseball; past president of Wayne County Coin Club, Finger Lakes Life Underwriters and Community Boosters Club. He was past Senior Warden of St. Mark’s Church, past Chair Officer & life member of Newark Elks Lodge, life member of Newark VFW, Newark American Legion and Newark Library. He was a member of American Numismatic Association and Arcadia Historical Society. Maurie took great pride, working in his yard and on his home and keeping it immaculate at all times. He retired from the Newark Developmental Center in 1974 after 27 years of service, where he was the Ground Supervisor. Prior to that, he had worked at Garlock Co. in Palmyra for 11 years. His family just had a birthday party at the Wayne County Nursing Home, to honor and celebrate his 92nd birthday. Mr. VanDemortel was a member of St. Michael Church in Newark; the Newark Volunteer Fire Dept. Deluge Hose Co. # 1 for 72 years, joining in 1932; Newark Elks Lodge and the American Legion War Dads in Newark. He enjoyed reading, gardening and landscaping. Stell, Shirley Morgan - Shirley Morgan Stell, 76, died December 2, 2004, at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Shirley was born October 4, 1928 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of Howard and Florence Petzold Morgan. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, Class of 1946. She had worked at Eastman Kodak and at Sibley's in the Newark Plaza. She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, the Amitie Chapter 473 Order of the Eastern Star, and Newark Country Club. She was an active Volunteer with the Newark-Wayne Hospital Auxiliary. Shirley is survived by Glenn, her husband of 55 years; two sons, Craig (Amy) of Clifton Springs and Brian (Sherry) of Medina, Ohio; three grandchildren Kristin, Ashley and Andrew. She was predeceased by her parents, and, in 2003, by her grandson Robert Stell. Van Lare, David - David Earl Van Lare, 61, of Marion, died November 26, 2004. He was born September 25, 1943, in Sodus, son of Roland and Betty Van Lare. He was a graduate of Williamson Central Schools. He attended Tusculum College in Tennessee and RIT, and he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a land surveyor for 30 years in the Rochester area. He was also co-owner of the Leaning Barn Antique Store. He served on the Marion Zoning Board for 17 years. He was predeceased by his parents, grandmother Gertrude Elve, and aunt Jean Fitzgerald. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Diane Walters Van Lare; son Andrew Van Lare and daughter, Laura (Jamie) Eggleston of Schenectady; grandsons, Nicholas David and Nathaniel James; his brother Barry (Phyllis) Van Lare of Reston, VA; in-laws, Dave and Sue Walters; nieces and nephew, and many loving friends. Croccia, Gloria - Gloria Croccia, 74, of Newark, died November 25, 2004. Gloria was born July 18, 1930 in New York City, to the late Michael and Angelina Croccia. Gloria was known to her friends as a very friendly and loving person, She enjoyed going out to eat, wearing the latest style clothing and jewelry. Swarthout, George L. - George L. Swartout of Lyons, formerly of Ontario, died Saturday November 27, 2004 at age 76. George was predeceased by his wife Louise on February 25, 1999. Madolin enjoyed gardening, children and most of all spending time with her family. Roll, Lois - Lois M. Roll, 61, of Phelps, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Lois was born May 27, 1943, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Edwin W. and Louise Wolf Roll. Lois enjoyed cooking and flower gardening and she loved to travel. Lois was highly dedicated to her job as secretary to the Midlakes High School Principal. She was planning to retire at the end of the school year after 43 years. Lois was also very dedicated to her Lord and church. She served for many years as church council secretary and organized many activities. Lois loved her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Violet (Ralph) Freeman of Friendship, David (Hildreth) Roll of Clifton Springs, Arlene (Wilford) McWilliams of Zebulon, NC, Donald (Barbara) Roll of Galway and Sharon (Walter) Slagle of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Washburn, Richard - Richard G. 'Dick' Washburn, 86, died November 17, 2004 at Myrtle Beach Manor in South Carolina. He was born May 14, 1918, in Bouckville, to the late Glenn and Blanche Cunningham Washburn. Coach Washburn was a World War II Veteran with the U.S. Army Air Corps. From 1939 until he went to war, Mr. Washburn taught school in Newark. From 1946-52 he was head football coach and mathematics teacher at Newark High. He was a long-time member of the Newark Reds Football Alumni Committee. He resigned to work for Empire Crafts, part of the C.H. Stuart Enterprises. Washburn played in the Newark Merchants Baseball League, and he was a well known and avid golfer. At Gates-Chili High School, he was a math teacher, basketball coach, head football coach and at the time of his retirement was assistant principal. Survivors include Jewel Mordus Washburn, his wife of 63 years; and his son, Richard G. Washburn, Jr., of Colorado Springs. A memorial service was held at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach. Interment will be in Madison, NY. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association.

Elwell, Jacque - Jacque Spencer Elwell, 82, died October 17, 2004 in Lawrence, Kansas. He was born October 26, 1921 in Rochester, son of the late M. Lawrence and Helen (Spencer) Elwell. He grew up in Rochester, where he attended West High School and became an Eagle Scout. He attended Haverford College for two years and then transferred to Hobart College, where he majored in Business Administration and graduated in 1947. During World War II, he served as a P-47 pilot in the Army's 9th Air Corps, completing 15 combat missions and attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He married Helen Wallace MacGregor on July 1, 1944. They lived primarily in Newark and Pittsford and moved to Kansas three years ago. While living in Newark, he worked for Empire Crafts. He was an Elder in the Park Presbyterian Church and was active in the Rotary Club and Elks Lodge and the Boy Scouts. He worked for Eastman Kodak Company and was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford. He is survived by daughter, Linda (Alan) Cowles of Lawrence, KS; and a son, Peter (Jill) Elwell of Columbus, OH. Grandchildren include Charles and Emily Cowles and Chad and Marc Elwell and a great-grandson, Jason Elwell. A graveside service will be held in Rochester in the Spring.

DeVay, William - William DeVay, 80, of Macedon, died November 18, 2004. He was retired from Mobil Chemical; he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macedon. He was predeceased in 2001 by his beloved wife, Lucille (Grandlin). Survivors include his daughters, Betty Jane Hochlander of Marion, Sharon Ann Moore of Goshen, Indiana; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Stocker, Richard - Richard Stocker, 51, of Sodus, died unexpectedly on November 16, 2004, following an illness. He was principal of the Red Creek High School. He graduated from Liverpool High School and Syracuse University School of Music. He taught music in Alexander and Liverpool schools. He was a former assistant principal at Leroy, former Palmyra-Macedon Middle School Principal, and current principal at Red Creek. Mr. Stocker was a leader of Boy Scout Troop #111 in Sodus and a member of the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps. He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Karl, parents Richard and Shirley Stocker, sisters Karen (Richard) Laquidari of Liverpool, Susan (Donald) Betts of Camillus, Diane (Timothy) Meyers of Perryville, and his brother James Stocker of Baldwinsville. Wideman, Bruce A. - Bruce Wideman, AGE, of Palmyra, died on Monday, November 15, 2004 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Loving husband, father and grandfather. Bruce is survived by his wife, Thelma; daughters Debra Hunt of Whitby, Ontario Canada and Donna (Michael) Murray of Palmyra; grandson, Mitchell Murray of Palmyra; sister, Carol Ginder of Lima; brother, Dick of Carollton, GA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Clyde; father Allyn; brother Glenn and sister Joan Arnold. Mr. Wideman was born in Greece, New York the son of Allyn and Clyde Carter Wideman. He was a graduate of Clyde High School and Tri-State University. Bruce was a member of the James R. Hickey Post #120 of the American Legion and a veteran of the United States Navy. The funeral home proudly flies the Navy flag in, honor of Bruce's service to his country.. Bruce and the former Thelma Barnes were married on October 18, 1958 in Lyons, New York, Mr. Wideman was Director of Product Developement/Great Lakes Region for LaFarge Corporation of Southfield, Michigan. Bruce - had been active in the Town and Village of Palmya for many years and had served as Town Councilman and Village Building Inspector. He was involved with, the Canaltown Days Committee and will always be remembered for his love of family, animals and canal restoration. Bruce was dedicated to. the Palmyra Canal Way Trail and was honored on June 5th, 2004 at the dedication of the trail for his vision and energy that were largely responsible for its creation. Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Novemeber 18 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 West Main Street, Palmyra where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 19. Donnelly, Robert - Robert W. Donnelly, 74, of Phelps, died Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Arrangements by the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street, Phelps. Funeral services were held yesterday Thursday, November 11 at the United Church of Phelps, 58 Main Street with the Rev. Shirley Filatreaz officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Mr. Donnelly was born March 28, 1930 in Waterloo, the son of Kenneth and Edith Buisch Donnelly. He graduated from Waterloo High School in 1947 and attended Ag Tech at Alfred State University. He is a member of the United Church of Phelps and was involved in the community. He owned and operated the family farm, enjoyed golfing, skiing and hunting and was a member of the Bear Creek Lodge Association. Mr. Donnelly was an avid reader and also enjoyed aviation, but his greatest love was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Liz Donnelly; a son, Brian (Gina) Donnelly of Newark; daughter, Kathy (Brad) Jacobs of Phelps; four grandchildren, Peter Donnelly and Mitchell, Evelyn and Benjamin Jacobs; a sister, Marion Donnelly of Phelps; a sister-in-law, Gert Donnelly of Phelps; a niece, Lisa Donnelly; a nephew, David (Beth) Donnelly; and a great-niece, Olivia Donnelly. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Carol) of Chili and Steven (Brenda) of Newark; a daughter, Christy Robinson of St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren, three great-grand children; two sisters, Patricia (Russell) Tripoli of Chili and Marlene (Frederick) Campbell of Clarks Summit, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He had worked for the National Security Agency in Washington, DC, Bloomer Brothers in Newark, and, for 35 years, was a Financial Analyst for Mobil Chemical in Macedon. After his retirement, Sherm was active with the Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance where he was an Emergency Medical Technician. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Newark. For the past couple of years, he had lived in Wilmington. He is survived by his wife Violet, a son Sherman H. (Kate Lajtha) of Corvalli, OR, five daughters, Betsy (Duane) Oudenhoven of Chicago, IL, Ellen (Bruce) Mitchell of San Antonio, TX, Margaret Bloomer of Wilkes Boro, NC, Nancy Bloomer of Greenville, SC, and Jennifer Bloomer of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, James and Molly Oudenhoven, Brian and Erin Mitchell, Adrian and Lucy Bloomer; a sister Joan (Jeremiah) Collins of Bethesda, MD. The family is being served by the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home.

Hart, Eleanor 'Timmy' - Eleanor 'Timmy' Hart, 94, of Lincoln Road died, peacefully, Monday (November 8, 2004) at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Friends may call Thursday (Nov. 11) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday (Nov 12) at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Mark's Church. Mrs. Hart was born on October 10, 1910 in Theresa, New York, the daughter of Frederick and Lillian Soper Timmerman. She graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1931. That same year, she became a psychiatric social worker at the former Newark State School, retiring in 1973 with over 42 years of service. Mrs. Hart was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Wayne County Historical Society. Timmy will be greatly missed by her loving family, son John (Patricia) Hart of Newark, two grandchildren Caitlin and Nathan and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Edward 'Pat' in 1994, son Paul in 1973 and a sister, Evelyn Kelsey in 1991.

Welty, Helen - Helen Frances Renick Welty, 72, of Maryland, a former day-care provider and volunteer, died of respiratory failure on September 22, 2004. She operated a licensed day care in her Bethesda home from the late 1960s until 1978. She had a background in childcare, after running the nursery at Frederick Memorial Hospital in 1955 and 1956. She was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Newark High School in 1950, the University of Rochester's nursing school in 1955. She moved with her husband to the Washington area when he was transferred to Fort Detrick. After working in the hospital's nursery, she taught biology at Hood College in Frederick for a year. The couple moved to their Bethesda home in 1960. She was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda where she volunteered. Survivors include her husband, Carl G. Welty of Bethesda; three children, Linda Welty Wood, of Westminster, MD, David Welty of Lovettsville and Steven Welty of North Potomac; two sisters; two brothers; and 18 grandchildren.

Bement, Virginia L. - Virginia Louise Bement, 82, died Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the DeMay Living Center. There will be no prior calling hours. Rider, Helen Adelaide Wenban - Helen Adelaide Wenban Rider passed away on Friday, November 5, 2004 with her family at her side. She would have been 99 years old on Christmas Day. She was born in Newark, New York, daughter of William and Mary Stansell Wenban. Helen was a direct descendent of Nicholas Stansell who, with his father William, settled in Lyons in 1788. Historians recognize them as Wayne County's first settlers. As early as 1800, Nicholas Stansell had settled in the vicinity of what became Lockville, and is now East Newark, acquiring 600 acres of land. Helen graduated from the old Washington High School in 1922, which was located next the Park Presbyterian Church. Her first job was at the 'Commercial Building' as an employee of the C.H. Stuart & Co. Helen married Harry Rider and they raised their family of two children, Mary (VanNorman) and William (Bill) at 142 Bartle Avenue. Helen was always busy in the kitchen filling her cookie jar, along with some canning and pickle making. Helen also enjoyed reading. An avid seamstress, Helen cut and sewed just about everything both for her family as well as friends and those in need. Helen also knitted and pearled mountains of yarn. During the 2nd World War years, she contributed many mittens and socks to the Red Cross for the war effort. Shortages and rationing were the norm and, on one occasion, Newark High Cheerleaders had no uniforms, so Helen knitted sweaters for the team. Helen's church, which she joined on March 26, 1922 was her special place. She belonged to both the Reed and Foster classes at Newark's Park Presbyterian Church. Through one of them, she became the lead person along with Kathryn Crane in the church kitchen, preparing meals for church and community groups. The kitchen was barely adequate, so the classes raised the money to upgrade them by serving dinners. The church decided to upgrade the dining room also. Helen was also interested in the Amitie Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a past matron. She expanded her cooking interests to the lodge kitchen and dining room, and if no cook books were available for large groups, she printed her own. The lodge kitchen was also inadequate, so that too was upgraded and paid for in the same manner. After the war and her children were grown, she was offered a job in the school system. She was secretary in the then Junior/Senior High School on Miller Street. There were also four Elementary Schools. At that time there were only four administrators. Helen was also the District Treasurer whose tasks included preparation of the budget. She developed an activity based budgeting system, much different than school budgets of today. She retired in 1971. In 1994, Helen moved to Tucson, Arizona, and returned to Newark in 2002. Helen's life long interest in genealogy, as well as her ancestry, led her to the Colonel William Prescott Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Helen is survived by her daughter, Mary VanNorman and friend Gilbert Lewis of Newark, and son, William, of Macedon; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Rider, who died March 20, 1994, and her brother, Fredrick Wenban, who died in 2003. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the Park Presbyterian Church, in Newark. Burial will follow in the East Newark Cemetery. Noble, Raymond F. - Raymond F. Noble, 90, formerly of Sodus St., Clyde, died Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Friends may call Friday 5-8 pm at Pusateri Funeral Home, 68 Sodus St., Clyde. A funeral mass will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Church. Burial in St. Johns Cemetery with full military rites accorded at the grave. Clyde VFW will have a visitation Friday at 6:30 at the funeral home. He retired in 1978 from the Wayne County Highway Dept. He served in the army in WWII and was a member of Bud Hinman Post 947 and of Brown Disanto Post 226 of the American Legion. He was a member of St. Johns Church. Survived by 2 daughters, Angeline (George) Von Fuchs of the state of Washington; Cynthia Noble of the Wayne County Home; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; step daughter-in-law Dorothy. Predeceased by his first wife, Teresa Braccio Noble in 1970.

Bailey, Gertrude - Gertrude Bailey, 94, of Newark, died November 3, 2004, at Wayne County Nursing Home. She was born December 8, 1909 in Marion, to Jacob and Gertrude Bodine Stockman. She was a graduate of Newark High School; she lived in Newark, then Largo, Florida for 20 years, returning to Newark in 2000. The graveside funeral service is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, in the Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her son Fritz (Marsha Vanderbrook) Bailey of Plymouth, MA; nine grandchildren, Thomas, Jay, Jeffery and James Thomson, Trudi MacBride, Michael, Steven, Jon Bailey and Kristen Madden; 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Frederic in 1993, daughter Diane Thomson in 1996, son David Bailey in 1970, three brothers and two sisters.

Waterman, Doris - Doris Hitchcock Waterman, 97, of Harpersfield, died Oct. 27, 2004, at home after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 15, 1907, in Lebanon, the daughter of Nathaniel and Lydia (Pendorf) Hitchcock. She married Paul F. Waterman on July 15, 1933, in Hamilton. He predeceased her. A resident of the area for 52 years, she was a graduate of Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, in the Class of 1930. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford where she served as the church organist for many years. She was an active volunteer in the community, for many, many years giving piano lessons. She is survived by five children: Mrs. Priscilla Fuller, Mr. Bruce Waterman, Mrs. Lila Serapilio, Mrs. Margaret Oswald, Mrs. Natalie (Robert) Lemmon of Palmyra; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Stamford, with the Rev. Patricia Shafer officiating. Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Ladies Auxiliary; life member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Phelps; member of the Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star, Chapter 326 in Shortsville; member of the Cabane 33 Dames of 40 x 8 in Williamson; 30-year member of the National Hair Dresser and Cosmetologists Association. Sheila favorite hobbies were collecting antiques, dishes and furniture, and she was an avid collector of genealogy. She enjoyed traveling to scenic spots and historical sites. Sheila for many years studied the Indian Culture and their way of life. She loved to watch boxing and stock car racing on TV. McCue, Donna N.  - Donna B. McCue, 81, of Newark, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Mrs. McCue was born on December 25, 1922, in Rochester, the daughter of Verner and Sally Monje Burns. Donna was a secretary at Lincoln School for over eighteen years, retiring in 1985. Before moving to Newark and raising her family, she had worked at Kodak in Rochester. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church. Donna had served on the Alex Eligh Community Center Board of Directors. For many years, she volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Banks and the House of John. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 6 at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark, with a reception following in the church hall. Donna is survived by her husband of 45 years, John R. Robinson, Sharon - Sharon Ann Robinson, 64, formerly of Newark, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 in Brantingham, NY. Fletcher, Sherry - Sherry A. Fletcher, 63, of Lyons, died at home on Saturday, October 30, 2004.Sherry was born in Sodus, on March 15, 1941, a daughter to John L. and Dorothy A. Clark Brennan. She was predeceased by her parents. She was a graduate of Sodus Central School in 1959, was an avid Elvis Fan, and was employed by the Lyons Central School as a bus driver for 26 years. Goellner, Karl - Karl Eugene 'Gene' Goellner, 93, of Duluth, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at the home of his son Mark. He was born Sept. 18, 1911 in Port Gibson, NY. He was the sixth of eight children of Anna Marie (Volz) and John Goellner, both immigrants to America. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree (1933) and Doctor of Philosophy degree (1943) in zoology at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the air force in El Paso, Texas, where he taught atmospheric science. He taught at Luther College from 1947-1949 and at Coe College from 19491977. During his career, Gene taught zoology, biology, embryology, ornithology, ichthyology and comparative anatomy among other subjects. As faculty advisor, he counseled young men and women, helping them make decisions about their lives and careers. He strove to make student athletes students first and athletes second. Gene served as the president of the Iowa Academy of Science from 1978-1979 and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Academy of Science in 1980. On May 11, 1934, he married Ruth Godwin in Detroit, MI. In 1949 they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was active in the Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, the Coe Athletics Committee and the Iowa Academy of Science. At Coe commencement in May, 2003, he was presented with the Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the College. After retirement Gene and Ruth moved to Teal Lake near Hayward, WI. He remained a loyal Michigan alumnus. He continued his lifelong focus on environmental and ecological issues, at home and abroad. Gene and Ruth traveled extensively to such places as Siberia, Russia, Alaska, Europe, Norway, Guam, Africa, Trinidad, Mexico and the Galapagos Islands. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his parents and siblings, Anna, Henry, Fred, Margaret, John, Alice and Lud. Gene is survived by his four boys, John (Annette) of Rochester, MN, Karl A. (Mary) of Tampa, FL, Paul (Bette Colville) of Spooner, WI, Mark (Anita) of Duluth, MN, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Wells, Harold R. - Harold R. Wells, age 79, of Dayton Ave., Clifton Springs died October 31, 2004 at home with his loving family by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am, Thursday, November 4, 2004 at St. Felix Church in C lifton Springs. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. Harold was born April 27, 1925 in Lima, New York, the son of the late Robert and Frances Wells and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a graduate of Clifton Springs High School. He served his country in the United States Airforce during WWII. He was employed by PaPec and Garlock before retiring from Wright Components. Harold was a member of St. Felix Church and he was a member and past treasurer for the Phelps American Legion. He enjoyed smelting and fishing, gardening, and playing cards. He loved attending air shows all over the area. He will be greatly missed by all he knew. Petrus, Joseph 'Jockey' - Joseph 'Jockey' Petrus, 85, of Washington Street, Newark, died October 30, 2004 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born January 4, 1919 in Lyons, son of Sundo and Josephine Marr Petrus. He was a superintendent of construction for Consolidated Gas of Phelps; he had worked for various construction companies, and for the railroad in his earlier years. Petrus served several terms as the lone Democratic Newark Village Trustee. In 1977, he ran for Mayor of Newark - as an independent candidate. Although he lost the election, his candidacy had a profound impact on the outcome of the election as incumbent Mayor Nick Neuhard was defeated, and Republican Douglas Rook was elected. He served as general manager of the baseball park (Colburn Park) for the Newark Co-Pilots, and as Venerable for the Geneva Sons of Italy, where he was very active. He was a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and life member of the VFW Arcadia Post #2883. Visitations were held for The Sons of Italy of Geneva and the VFW members. He was buried at the Newark Cemetery, with full military rites accorded. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (John) Stuhlmann of California; Merilou Santelli VanHoute of Newark; three grandchildren, Samantha Santelli, Jennifer Green and Andrea Faulisi; one great-grandson, Joseph Green; three stepgrandchildren, Johnny, Amber and Ashley; two sisters, Louise Petrus and Mary (Frank) Cinefi of Lyons; a brother, Rockie (Betty) Janto and nieces and nephews. Velte, Robert C. "Bobby V"- Robert Charles "Bobby V" Velte, 59, of Newark, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital.  Bobby V was born the son of the late George B. and Agnes Vale Velte on December 15, 1944 in Newark, New York. He was a graduate of Newark High School. Bobby V had worked for Doyle Security as a driver for several years and most recently at Newark Auto. Bobby V enjoyed playing the drums and performing in many clubs. He had a great passion for rock & roll and country music. Dudowski, Roman  - Roman Dudowski, 80, of Newark, died peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2004 at his home. Born the son of the late John and Helen Dudowski on June 13, 1924 in Poland. He came to the United States in 1951. Mr. Dudowski worked at Jackson & Perkins as a foreman, Sarah Coventry and Hallagan Manufacturing. Butler, LaMonte - LaMonte G. Butler, Sr., 59, of Clyde, died October 25, 2004 at Rochester General Hospital. LaMonte was born April 29, 1945 in Lyons, son of Clifford and Blanche Carroll Butler. He was employed by Seneca Foods for 15 years and Farmington Disposal for 10 years. He was an avid bowler, and helped his brother Gene in his greenhouse. Synesael, Arnold - Arnold E. Synesael, 81, of Washington Street, Newark, died October 24, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court, Newark. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Church. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery, with full military rites accorded. A reception will follow at the Newark VFW. Arnie was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Newark, son of Edmund and Bertha Rahm Synesael. He retired from the U.S. post office in Newark, with 31 years of service. He worked as a security guard for C.H. Stuart for 10 years, and was a bartender for private parties. He was a graduate of Newark High School, class of 1941. He was a life member and Past Commander of VFW Post 2883, serving as Commander in 1956. He also was a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion and St. Michael Church. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean conflict building bridges as a combat engineer. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and camping. He is survived by five sons: Howard (Mary Jane) of Geneva, Kenneth (Susan) of Punta Gorda, FL, Stephen of Henrietta, and David (Juli) and Douglas (Julie) both of Newark; two daughters, Darlene (Ed) Blamble and Dorene (David) Orbaker, both of Newark; 10 grandchildren: Tammy, Mandy, Alli, Matt, Zachary, Alex, Emily, Nicholas, Paige and Jack; one brother, Richard of Lyons; one sister, Jeanette Shaw of Hollywood, FL; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in March 2004 by his wife Susan; by sisters, Belva Livingston and Eleanor Kunow; and by his parents. Townsend, Wade 'Cy' - Wade F. 'Cy' Townsend, 87, of Lyons, died Monday, October 18, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospice in Rochester. Cy was born in Savannah, April 3, 1917, son of Floyd & Maude Wade Townsend. He retired from the NYS Police in 1973 with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Wolcott Elks Lodge and active with fundraising for Camp Onseyawa and was a member of the Waterloo and Lyons Rotary Clubs. Healy, Robert - Robert J. Healy, 79, of Newark, died October 18, 2004 at his home. Bob was born on October 24, 1924, in Corning the son of Thomas F. and Celia Hanrahan Healy, Sr.. He graduated from Newark High School, St. Bonaventure University and earned his Master's degree in Special Education at Syracuse University. For more than 25 years, he was a special education teacher at the Newark Developmental Center, retiring in 1986. He had been an investment counselor and an auto salesman. He was instrumental in the formation of the WCTA. A Marine, Bob served in the Pacific Theater of Operation during World War II, participating in the initial landing of Guam. He was in the initial landing on Okinawa, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church, and active with the Jail Ministry at the Wayne County Jail. He was an active volunteer with Newark Hospital, Caring Friends, Meals on Wheels and the Wayne County Literacy Volunteer Program. He was a member of the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW, August Mauer Post American Legion, Newark Country Club, and Newark Elks. Bob is survived by his wife Lorraine; his children Susan Healy of Carmel, CA, Cindy (David) Hawke of Brockport, Judy (Charles) Cain of Newark, Steven (Lucille) Healy of Clifton Park, Ann (Duane) Gaul of Spencerport and Tim (Cheri) Healy of Dove Canyon, Ca.; twelve grandchildren Emma Healy, Meghan Healy, Bethany Hawke, Daniel Hawke, Matthew Hawke, Scott Contario, Kristian Healy, David Healy, Andrew Gaul, Lisa Gaul, Timothy Healy and Sarah Healy and a brother Thomas F. Gifford, Francis E. - Francis Eugene 'Shorty' Gifford, 73, died Wednesday October 13, 2004, peacefully with his wife by his side at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Shorty worked for the village of Newark and was best known as the water meter reader for over 36 years. He was a member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department, New York Central Hose Co. # 5, joining in 1972. Shorty was also a member of the American Legion, August Mauer Post 286. For several years, he drove veterans to VA Hospitals in Canandaigua and Buffalo for the Wayne County VA Services. He enjoyed walking and visiting with people in his community. Johnson, Raymond, H. - Raymond H. Johnson, 61, of Palmyra/Sodus, died October 12, 2004. Raymond was born on August 28, 1943 in Canandaigua, NY. He was a longtime resident of Palmyra before moving to Sodus. He had been employed as a machinist at American Can in Fairport. Ray had volunteered in the Peace Corps and as a member of the Wallington Fire Department. Marchitell, Barbara A. - Barbara A. Marchitell, 72, of 257 W. Genesee St., Clyde, died Saturday (Oct. 9, 2004) at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic after a brief illness. Family and friends are invited to call today (Wednesday, Oct. 13) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 Genesee St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 14) in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. James Hewes officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden Crypts of St. John's Cemetery, Clyde. Contributions to the. St. John's Church Memorial Fund, 114 Sodus St., Clyde, NY 14433, would be appreciated. Mrs. Marchitell was born Feb. 21, 1932 in Jamestown, the daughter of Thomas and Caryl Heald Russell. Barbara was a resident of Clyde for the last 52 years. From 1980 to 1999, she served as village clerk and the treasurer of the village of Clyde. She was an active member of St. John's Church, and had been a past member of the Catholic Daughters. Mrs. Marchitell was also a member of the Red Hats on the Erie Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Barbara was truly a family-oriented woman, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Bruce (Joyce) Salmon of East Islip and Joseph (Melissa) Marchitell of Clyde; two daughters, Nancy (Timothy) Sheehe of Newark and Susan (Tom) Munson, of Clyde; several loving brothers and sisters; seven grandchildren, Amy and Caryl Sheehe, Michelle and Kaitiin Salmon, Thomas and Tyler Munson and Patrick Marchitell; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

DeMarree, Mylo - Mylo J. DeMarree ('Poppy'), 78, of Newark, died October 10, 2004. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a retiree from the Newark Developmental Center, member of the First Reformed Church of Sodus and the Sodus, Masonic Lodge, F.&A.M. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Kathleen (VandenBroek) DeMarree; children, Michael (Marilyn) DeMarree, of Mexico, NY, Roger (Joan) DeMarree of Venice, FL, Paul (Dina) DeMarree of Williamson, Mary (Tom) Stager of Sodus Point, Christine (Wayne) Hermenet of Sodus, Peter (Jenifer) DeMarree of Sodus Point, Bruce Arnold of Oklahoma City, OK; 16 special grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley Eugene (Eleanor) DeMarree of Sodus; sister, Carol Canne of Pultneyville; several nieces, nephews; and special friends. DeLue, Cornelia - Cornelia M. DeLue of Newark died October 11, 2004 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 14 at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery. Cornelia was born in Sodus, daughter of Abram and Minnie Van Koveringen Havert. She was a life-long resident of Newark and member of the Park Presbyterian Church since 1939. She retired from Ruspak Corporation of Lyons. She volunteered at the Office of the Aging helping with the 'Three Score' newsletter and the Alex Eligh Helping Hands. She is survived by two daughters Gail (Charlie) Morrow of Clifton Springs, Diana (Robert) Wykle of Lyons, three sons Donald (Marcia) of Arlington, Tx., Eugene (Eloise) of Port Byron and Norman (Myrna) of Katy, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters Dorothy Kaiser of Newark and Marian (Ben) Conley of Oaks Corners, two brothers Phillip (Ruth) Havert of Sodus, Henry (Veronica) Havert of Merles Inlet, SC and eight nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1973 by her husband Ivan, and by sister Mabel Cook and brother Richard Havert. Chaffee, Doris R. - Doris Rice Chaffee, age 82, of Venice, FL/Newark, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Chaffee was born the daughter of the late Earl and Florence Cleveland Rice on May 26, 1922 in Kendall, New York. She retired from NYSEG where she worked as a clerk. Mrs. Chaffee loved to be around children and teaching them the love of Christ. She was a member of the Parkland Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida and a past member of the First Baptist Church of Newark. Mrs. Chaffee will be remembered by her brothers Stanley (Doris) Rice, Lawrence Rice and Kenneth (Joan) Rice; sisters-in-law Jesse Rice and Beverly Rice; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chaffee was predeceased by her husband Hugh E. Chaffee on Dec. 29, 1997; sisters Ruth Reed and Dorothy Rice; brothers Francis and Earl Wilford “Bill” Rice; brother-in-law E. Norris, Dorothy May - Dorothy May Norris, age 84, of North Road, Sodus, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born October 16, 1919 in Hancock, MD, was a long time resident of Alton and Sodus areas, and was the lead chef at the Normandy Inn Restaurant. She was known as 'Gram' by all friends and family. She was a caring and loving woman to all who crossed her path. She will be sadly missed. Predeceased by her husband Robert 'Bud' E. Norris in 1994, son Robert E. Norris, Jr. in 2001, and daughter, Alice Norris in 1962. Survived by her sister, Janet (Henry) Cushman of North Rose; 2 brothers, James (Evelyn) Coonrod and Dennis (Dorothy) Coonrod of Florida; brother-in-law, Marvin Carnell of Clyde; sister-in-law, Esther Coonrod of Lyons; daughter-in-law, Mary Norris of Chili; grandchildren, Mary (Randy) Scott of Sodus and Robert (Cynthia) Norris III of Savannah; 7 great-granchildren, AJ & Kristen Scott, Zachary, Angela, Tyler, Quintin, and Eva Norris. Ellis, Anne Jessie - Anne Jessie Ellis, 80, of West Miller Street, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 2004) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Anne was born Sept. 19, 1924, in the town of Victor, the daughter of George F. and Lillie Tompkins Ellis. She retired from the.Newark Developmental Center where she worked for many years. She is survived by two sisters, Grace Howard of Holcomb and Edith Becker of Shortsville; brother, Lester Ellis of Clifton Springs; two grandsons, Michael Ellis of Georgia and Bryan Ellis of Virginia; one granddaughter, Annie Ellis of North Carolina; one great great-grandson; and good friend, Phyllis Gordon of Newark.

Pearson, Paul K. - Paul King Pearson, 69 died suddenly Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Family and friends may call Thursday (Oct. 7) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 West Miller Street, Newark. There will be a Graveside service Friday (Oct. 8) at 1 p.m. at Sand Beach Lakeview Cemetery in Flemming, New York. Paul was born the son of the late Isaac and Pearl Bennett Pearson on October 22, 1934 in Auburn, New York. He had owned and operated Montgomery and Ward Store in Newark for 18 years; worked as an LPN at the Newark-Wayne Hospital and Monroe Community Hospital. Most recently, he worked for BJ's store in Geneva. Paul was a member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark; Northern Central Fireman Association; Newark Volunteer Fire Dept., Excelsior Hook & Ladder Co. #4, joining in 1958; Arcadia Democratic Committee and was their voting machine custodian for over 48 years; charter member of the Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance; Newark Masonic Lodge, F & AM #83 and Newark Elks Lodge. He was a past member of Newark Rotary and the Newark Chamber of Commerce. Paul enjoyed his CB radio and was known as The General to his radio friends. He also enjoyed camping. The funeral home proudly flies the Army flag in honor of his service to our country. Paul is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Richard and Lisa Pearson of Newark; daughters Cindi Blankenberg and friend Rick Carney of Clifton Springs and Kathy Marvel and friend Chris Mitek of Woodstock, Georgia; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; good friends Gail Pearson, and Nancy DuFresne.
