Guard, Richard Branson - Richard Branson Guard, 88, of Palmyra, died on Friday, June 22, 2007. Mr. Guard was born in Savona, New York the son of Raymond and Minerva Hayden Guard. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years June; son Gordon (Patti Trowbridge); grandson Conan; sister-in-law Eleanor; and many nieces, nephews, great neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Clarence. Richard was a WW II veteran, having served at Pearl Harbor. He was a five time Commander of Palmyra V.F.W. Post #6778 and a three time Wayne County Commander. The funeral Home proudly flies the United States Army flag in honor of his service to our country. Richard was an electrician and retired from the Palmyra-Macedon School District where he had served in maintenance. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. The family will  celebrate his life on Saturday, July 21 at the James R. Hickey American Legion Post #120, 128 Cuyler Street, Palmyra at 2 p.m.. Arrangements by Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc.

Houchins, Margaret G. - Margaret G. Houchins, 86, of Eustis, FL, died Tuesday June 19, 2007 at Florida Waterman Hospital. She was originally from Indiana, but was a resident of Florida for 48 years. Marge was retired from the St. Petersburg Times and enjoyed gardening, traveling, knitting, needlepoint and cards during her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband William and is survived by her son Thomas (Linda) Houchins of St. Petersburg, Florida, her daughter Sharon (Dawson) Raymo of Canandaigua, sisters Dottie Chizinski of Geneva and Billie Brazill of Beach Haven, New Jersey; grandchildren Ben Raymo of Farmington, Katie (Joe) Raymo Castro of Newark, Cindy Stanford of Pensacola, Florida, and Michael Houchins of Fairfax County, Virginia; and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held on July 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church (small chapel) in Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

Mortimer, James H. - James H. Mortimer, 73, of Sodus, died Wednesday June 27, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. A cherished husband and beloved father survived by his wife, Mary (Nevellzer), of over 50 years; daughter Lorraine (Edward) Hall and son Larry (Kathy) Mortimer; grandsons, James and Matthew Morimer; sisters, Nan (Lloyd) Reynolds and Marilyn Oathout; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jim lived his entire life on the Centenary Road family farm with his early years rooted in farming which included having over 100,000 broilers and a small fruit crop. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and his love of animals throughout his whole life currently leaving behind his faithful dog and companion Tequa. Jim served in the US Army and was most noted for being a respected businessman as a Nationwide Insurance Agent running his family operated business out of his home for nearly 40 years and currently working with the local farmers through Rain & Hail Crop Insurance. Jim also served as Elder of the Grace Bible Presbyterian Church, Sodus Center, and will be remembered for his many years of faithful service, as well as being an active board member of the Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions. Friends may call at the Young Funeral Home in Williamson on Saturday, June 30 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service to be held at the Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Sodus Center on Sunday, July 1 at 2 p.m. Private Interment, Centenary Road Cemetery, Sodus. Mathis, Lillie Belle - Lillie Belle Mathis, 84, of Lyons died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Lillie was born in Macon, GA, August 15, 1922 daughter of John & Mahley Collins Robinson. She had lived in Trenton, N.J and worked in government jobs in her earlier years. She had lived in Lyons for 28 years and also in Newark. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church in Lyons. Predeceased by her husband, Johnnie Mathis, son Johnnie Mathis Jr, sisters, Ruby Dupree, Lena James, Annie Murphy; brothers, Quilly and Jimmie Lee. Survived by her son, Joe Frank Robinson, of Trenton, N.J.; sister, Estella Sutton of Newark; 4 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews. Burch, James - James G. Burch, 69, of Route 88 North, died June 24, 2007 at Newark-Wayne Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, at the Brantingham Cemetery, in Lewis County, NY. He was born December 19, 1937 in Conesus. He moved to Newark in 1982 and worked in construction as an ironworker. He had served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his life companion Shirley Andrzejewski of Newark and her son John (Christie) Andrzejewski of Shortsville and John's three children. Coppernoll, Robert - Robert D. Coppernoll, 81, died May 25, 2007 in Newark. Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery. He was born January 17, 1926 in Niagara Falls, son of Reginald and Bessie Shaw Coppernoll. He owned and operated a farm in the Red Creek area, retiring in 1975. Bob served with the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronic Technician during World War II in the Pacific Theater and again during the Korean Conflict. Price, Arlene - Arlene H. Schutt Price, 74, of Palmyra died June 25, 2007. Arlene was born in Palmyra, New York to Carl and Laura Schutt on February 7, 1933. Arlene worked for Xerox where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Palmyra Moose and the American Legion. She was predeceased by her son, Michael, and her brother, Carl Schutt. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia 'Patty' Ann Woodward; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Clark and Carolyn 'Kitty' Griffis; and a brother, Bob (Gail) Schutt. Johnson, Ethelmae R. - Ethelmae R. Johnson formerly of Palmyra, passed away on June 25, 2007 at the Fairport Baptist Home at age 79. Predeceased by her husband James. Davis, Robert C. - Robert C. Davis, 66, of Spring Hill, Kansas passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at his lake home in Lake Winnebago, Missouri. Mr. Davis was born in Newark, NY, youngest son of Dr. James and Dorothy Manwaring Davis. He graduated from Newark High School in 1958, and was as an Electrical Engineer and retired C.E.O of Bremson Inc., a company that he sold a few years ago to Eastman Kodak Co. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (DePauw) Davis; two sons, Mark Davis of Littleton, Colorado, and Kirk Davis of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers, David Davis of Alamo, California and James Davis of Eureka, California, and two grandchildren, Derek and Danica Davis; nieces and nephews including Christopher Davis of Newark. Otterbein, Gere - Gere F. Otterbein, 36, died Thursday, June 21, 2007, at his home in Newark. Mr. Otterbein was born in Buffalo on February 24, 1971, the son of Keith and Charlotte Swanson Otterbein. He grew up in the Buffalo area graduating from Williamsville South High School in 1988. Gere attended SUNY Fredonia and graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a degree in History. He was a welder and worked for the Pipe Fitters Union, Local 13 in Rochester. He is survived by his finacee Bonnie Jones of Newark, daughter Angela Otterbein and stepson Matthew McGahen, both at home, his parents Keith and Charlotte Otterbein of Williamson, NY and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Trombino, Joseph, P. - Joseph P. Trombino, 83, of Lyons, died June 21, 2007. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at Boheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons, where services will follow calling at 3 p.m. with the Rev. William Dahling officiating. Burial will be in S. Lyons Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Joe was born June 29, 1923 in Lyons, son of Samuel and Minnie Rago Trombino Sr. He operated Trombino's Restaurant in Lyons for 30 years with his brother Sam. He drove school bus for 20 years for Lyons Central School. He had also worked at Finger Lakes Race Track. He served in the army during World War II and was a Past Commander of Lyons VFW Post 5092, and was a member of Lyons American Legion. Joe was a die-hard Yankees fan. He and his wife had been going to Florida for 25 years during the winter. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hall Trombino; three daughters, JoAnne Hurley of Pittsford, Nancy (Larry) T. Rice of Waterloo and Pam Trombino of Newark; three step-children, Peter (Marcia) Santelli of Hornell, William (Marguerite) Santelli of Pittsford and Nancy (John) Cauvel of Geneva; one brother, Sam Jr. of Lyons; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two aunts.

Campbell, Margaret Agnes - Margaret Agnes Campbell, 87 of Palmyra died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at the age of 87. Family and friends are invited to call from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, June 22 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 West Main Street, Palmyra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 on Saturday, June 23 at St. Annes Catholic Church in Palmyra. Burial will be in Port Gibson Cemetery. Margaret was born on June 1, 1920 in Marion, New York the daughter of Robert and Bridgett Doyle Murphy. She was married to Gerald M. Campbell on October 16, 1944 in Palmyra. Margaret was a member of St. Anne's Church in Palmyra and a founding member of the Wayne ARC where she remained very active. Margaret is survived by her husband Gerald; sons Jim, Bob (Marilyn) and Vic (Laurie) Campbell; grandchildren Barbara, Jerry, Jason and Andy and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Richie Campbell on August 26, 2006 and sister Alice Murphy Floss.

Kern, Elnora E. - Elnora E. Kern, 84, of Sodus, entered into rest on June 16, 2007 in Deltona, FL. Elnora was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Beatrice Burlee; husbands, Homer VanHall and Edward Kern; son, Alan VanHall; and brother, Gordon Burlee. Provo, Bob - Robert L. Provo, Sr., 77, died March 4, 2007 in Florida. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Assembly of God Church, Hartnagel Road, Newark. Kennison, Agnes May - Agnes May Kennison, 89, of Marion, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the DeMay Living Center. Agnes was the daughter of Jacob and Sadie DenDecker, who immigrated from Holland to the Arcadia area in the early 1900s. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Russell and is survived by her daughter Lorraine M. Laurent and husband Glenn; also two stepchildren, five granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, all living out of state. Agnes was cremated as she had directed. A memorial celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Burial was in Marion NY cemetery. Gobeyn, Sam - Morris 'Sam' Gobeyn, 84, of Marion, died June 16, 2007. Sam worked at Garlock's in Palmyra for 33 years. The family sent special thanks to his caregivers, Susie and Nancy. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today (June 20) at Stevens Funeral Home, 3896 Buffalo St., Marion, where the funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Sam is survived by his children, Terry Gobeyn, of Marion, Linda (Richard Washburn) Gobeyn, of Dundee, Nancy (Dennis) Lewis, of Newark, Sharon Weber, of Walworth; grandchildren, Sarah, Shannon and Jeffrey Lewis, Mandy and Matthew Weber; beloved dog, Penny; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; brothers, Freeman, Raymond, Edward, Mike and Jack; sisters, Emma Jordan and Martha Deminok; and son-in-law, Norb Weber. Smith, John - John Francis Smith, 60, died June 4, 2007 at Francis House in Syracuse. John was born November 26, 1946 in Elmira, to Robert Earl and Claribel Lucille (Skinner) Smith. Both parents are deceased. He spent most of his childhood in Newark, where he attended St. Michael School and Newark High School (class of 1964). He attended the U.S. Air Force Academy and graduated magna cum laude from SUNY at Oswego in 1988, with a degree in History. He was a Library Technician, Class 3, at the Bird Library, Syracuse University for over 18 years. He was also an Eagle Scout, loved to read, and pursued many work endeavors throughout his life. One of his favorite was the time he spent commercial deep-sea fishing in Newport, RI. He is survived by his daughter Stacy Ann Smith, son Morgan Wesley Smith, and his former wife, Dona L. (Straubing) Munson. He also leaves behind three grandchildren Dylan Thomas, Emily Elizabeth, and Jacob Francis; three brothers, David Robert Smith, Josh Kelly (formerly Joseph Martin Smith), and James Michael Smith; and sister Kathleen Ann (Smith) Wanamaker. A memorial service will be held at the Newark Cemetery on June 30, at 11 a.m.; his ashes will be interred with his parents. Main, 'Sonny' - Carlton 'Sonny' Main, 70, of Clifton Springs, lost his courageous battle with cancer on June 15, 2007. Sonny was born August 1, 1936, in Geneva, son of the late Carl Main and Margaret Main Watts. He attended Geneva and Phelps schools and worked for many years at the Ontario County Health Facility in senior building maintenance, retiring in 1991. In 1957, Sonny married the love of his life, Jane E. Steyaert. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and his faithful companion Jiggs. Sonny was a member of the Buckhorn Sportsmans Club and was a former member of the Himrod Conservation Club. He was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen and Gary; and sister, Sandra Moshier. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Jane; daughters, Sharon (Dave) Blyman, Deborah (Pedro) Ortiz and Amy (Jamie); sons, David (Lisa), Robert (Kathy), Michael, Timothy (Dawn) and Carl; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, sisters, Catherine Sherman and Judy (Donald) Foster; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home, 26 W. Main Street. A celebration of Sonny's life was held at the funeral home. Friends may contribute to the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center in his memory.

Cambier, Janet - Janet L. Cambier, 78, of Clifton Springs died June 13, 2007, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Janet was born August 6, 1928, and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Highland Hospital in 1949. She practiced for 25 years at Newark Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, in 2003. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. She is survived by five children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends attended a celebration at the Spa Apartments Chapel, 11 E. Main St. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs 14432, in Janet's memory. Porpora, Harry - Harry Porpora, 83, affectionately referred to as The Mayor of Newark, died June 19, 2007 at the DeMay Living Center. Harry was born on January 24, 1924 in Buffalo, New York. He lived at the Father Baker Orphanage in Lackawanna before moving to Newark Developmental Center. Harry would walk throughout the village of Newark and was known by everyone. Huisman, Earl - Earl J. Huisman, 92, of Marion and Newark, died peacefully on June 11, 2007 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Earl was born Jan. 7, 1915 in Lincoln, the son of the Jacob and Dinah VanHaneghan Huisman. After graduation from High School, he worked for Samson Electric in Rochester as parts manager and then for Buckman Pontiac in Palmyra as Service Manager, retiring in 1977. He was good at repairing small appliances. He is survived by his brothers, Edward (Doris) Krocke of Newark and Peter (Jean) Krocke of Marion; and several nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by his wife, Rose M. Huisman; and sisters Tuena Fisher and Josephine Anderson. Arrangements entrusted to Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. Scarpati, Anthony J.Anthony J. Scarpati, 81, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Calling hours and funeral services were in Patachogue, New York on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 5 & 6, 2007 with burial in Holy Sepulche Cemetery, Coram, New York. Memorials in his name may be made to ones favorite charity. Mr. Scarpati was born on May 1, 1926 in Brooklyn, the son of Anthony A. and Lucy DePeo Scarpati. He has been living in Patchogue until six months ago when he moved Newark to live with his son. Tony was a member of the Carpenter's Union and had been a framer in the construction business before his retirement. He was a member of the Long Island Aero Radio Control Society. He is survived by his son Michael (Hannah) Scarpati of Newark, two grandchildren Paul (fiancee Jamie Hopfer) and Rachel Scarpati, a brother Ronald (Jeanne) Scarpati of Medford, New York. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa in 1999.

Arnitz, Gus A. Jr. - Mr. Gus A. Arnitz Jr., 67, of Wayne Ave., Clyde, died peacefully Thursday (June 7, 2007) with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated this morning (Tuesday, June 12) at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. James Hewes officiating. Mr. Arnitz was born July 27, 1939 in Lyons, the son of the late Gus A. and Mary Fratangelo Arnitz Sr. Gus Jr. spent 42 years of his life working for the Clyde-Savannah Central School District in the transportation department. He dedicated his life to the safety and well-being of school children. Gus was a leader in safety, being named New York State School Bus Driver Instructor of the Year, as well as receiving several other forms of recognition for his leadership, dedication and passion for his job. He also worked for 30 years for Bramer's Store in Clyde. Gus became a true member of the Bramer family. He will be greatly missed not only by his family and friends, but also by the transportation community for which he gave so much. Gus was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed listening to Elvis music. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Gibbons) Arnitz; his sons, Mark (Donna) Arnitz of Newark, Gus Paul (Jamie) Arnitz of Clyde; his daughters, Maureen (David) Gasbarro of Newark, Sharon (Mike) DeRenzo of Clyde, Mariellen (Tom) Viola, of Webster; two brothers, Peter Arnitz of Cato and Ron Arnitz of Florida; 11 grandchildren; several aunts, nieces and Nephews; his son-in-law, Daniel DeLisio; and close family friend, Betty Robinson. He was predeceased by his parents.

Bloomer, Louise Brewer - Louise Brewer Bloomer died April 13, 2007 at age 78 at her home in Charlotte, NC. DeLyser, Julian - Julian DeLyser, 80, of Hudson Ave., Chatham, NY, died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Community Hospice of Columbia Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. DeLyser was born May 16, 1927 in East Williamson, the son of Isaac and Marie (Vandermortel) DeLyser. He graduated from Williamson High School and graduated from New York State Teachers College in Albany with a M.S. degree. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1946-1947 and returned to service from 1951-1959. In 1952, Mr. DeLyser started his long-time position teaching at Chatham Central School until his retirement in 1982. During his teaching career, he was business department chair and served as vice principle. He was the president of the Chatham Central School Teacher's Association and served as delegate representative at the New York State Teacher's Association. Mr. DeLyser was president of the Chatham Exchange Club, member of the American Legion Post #42 Chatham, served as trustee of the Village of Chatham, past treasurer of the Sanford W. Smith Hook & Ladder of the Chatham Fire Department, captain of the Chatham Rescue Squad, member of the First Reformed Church of Chatham, having served as a deacon and elder. Mr. DeLyser was Emeritus board of director for the Columbia County Agricultural Society of the Chatham Fair for many years, having served as treasurer. Mr. DeLyser was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth DeLyser; grandson, Andrew Woodruff, and great-granddaughter, Alicia Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annette (Gardnier) DeLyser of Chatham; daughter, Susan and her husband Jerry Woodruff of Columbus, Ohio; son, David W. and wife Lorrie DeLyser of Chatham Center; sisters, June Trey, of Fairport, Jeanne DeLyser of Williamson. Survived also by grandchildren, Peter Woodruff, Angela Morgan, Amanda DeLyser, great-grandchild, Brendan Morgan. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 31, at the First Reformed Church, Chatham, with the Rev. Gary DeWitt officiating Interment, with military honors, at Chatham Rural Cemetery. Langenstein, of Captain Cook, Hawaii; grandchildren - Daniel A. (Meara) Hershey of Natick, Massachusetts; David R. Taylor, Gary - Gary Taylor, Clifton Springs, died June 2, 2007. He is survived by his beloved and loving wife, Robin Taylor (Loucks), beloved and loving daughter, Jessica Brittani, Kathleen and Ryan Scudder and Godchild, Brooke Alexandra; sister, Mary (Taylor) Legg of West Virginia; brothers, James of California, Ronald of Victor, Thomas of Rochester; many nieces and nephews and his AFS daughters, Anna from Germany, Yumi from Japan, Elisa from Italy and his AFS son, Mu from Thailand. Gary was a retired Newark Police Sergeant with 25 1/2 years of service. He was a United States Navy Combat Veteran of Vietnam. He belonged to the local VFW and American Legion. Mr. DeClark was born in Clifton Springs on December 21, 1915 the son of Edward and Barbara Yhonkers DeClark. For many years, he was a machine operator and a foreman with the Town of Arcadia Highway Department. In his retirement, he operated a ceramics business with his wife. Lawrence was a 52-year member of the First United Methodist Church and a life member of the Newark Masonic Lodge #83. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Florence Fisher DeClark, several nieces and nephews.

Mary was born March 22, 1914 in Port Byron, daughter of Dominic and Theresa Cataldi DeBoise. In her earlier years, she worked at the Commercial Building; she retired from the Newark Developmental Center; she operated an adult care home for adults for ten years; she taught quilting and was involved with the sewing club at the Wayne County Home; she was in the Marbletown home bureau; involved in the PTA at Lincoln School; she made the American flag for the State School Farm. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Newark. Friends may call today, June 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court, Newark. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, with burial to follow, in the East Newark Cemetery. Survivors include four sons: Charles, Frank (Donna), Michael, and Joseph, all of Newark; three daughters: RoseMary Gooden and Teresa (James) Hurley of Newark; Zinda (Alfred) Janke of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and one-great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Elizabeth (Jerry) Rose of Tennessee and Cecilia Wilson of Virginia; nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law Bernice Deboise of California. She was predeceased in 1996 by her husband Charles, Sr.; brothers Sylvester, James, Joseph, Frank, Jerry and sisters Minnie, Concetta, Fabian and Sabretta.

Russell, Beulah - Beulah D. (Dietz) Russell, 88, of Marion died June 1, 2007. She was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson and the Presbyterian Women. She is survived by her children: sons, Frederick (Sharon) Russell of Fairport, James (Deborah) Russell of Newark; daughter, Sharon (Robert) Andrushko of Frederick, Maryland; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Isabel Russell of Fairfax, Virginia; nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. She was predeceased in 2003 by her husband, David N. Russell. Calling hours are today, June 4, from 1-2:30 and 6-8 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home, 4025 West Main St., Williamson. Rees, John A. - John A. Reese, 58, of Newark, died on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Rochester General Hospital surrounded by friends and family. Funeral services for John will be at 1 PM on Monday, June 4 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark, NY with Rev. Mr. Rees was born in Syracuse on April 2, 1949, the son of Robert H. and Louise Ellis Rees.  He lived in Syracuse until 2000, when he moved to Newark.  John worked many years as a professional photographer with Olan Mills and as a shoe salesman for Rochester Shoe Store.  He was passionate about music and was an accomplished guitar and clarinet player.  Among his other interests were model railroading, cooking, golf and fishing.  John had a wonderful sense of humor. John is survived by three sisters Carol (Mike) Balfe of Milton, MA, Cindy Colella Emin of East Syracuse and Jackie (Mike) Kula of Bainbridge Township, OH, several cousins, nieces, nephews and his many loving and caring friends in Newark.  He was predeceased by his father in 2001 and mother in 1982.

Warren, Pearl - Pearl Warren, 91, of Lyons, and a resident of the Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus, died on May 27, 2007 at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Pearl was born on August 22, 1915 in Lyons, a daughter of George and Minnie Brinker Warren. She had lived in the Lyons area all her life. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Knowlton, George L. - George L. Knowlton, of Sodus, passed away on May 27, 2007 at the age of 64. George was an Army veteran from the Viet Nam era and was a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop #111. George is survived by his loving wife, Janet; son Matthew; stepsons Nicholas (Melissa) Freeman, Michael (Ann) Freeman; six step-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Harry (Faith) Weidman, Bruce (Debra), Weidman; sister-in-law Judy (Steve) Catholdi; and his cherished pet and devoted companion Chelsea. Kosoff, Harold A. - Harold A. Kosoff, formerly of Pittsford, passed away May 21, 2007 in Bradenton, FL. Mr. Kosoff was a retired attorney and a long-time member of the Wayne County Bar. He was a WWII veteran, having received pilot training in the Army Air Corps. He also served as a member of the 808 bomb squadron of the Ninth Airforce having become a bomb disposal specialist in the European theatre. He was an avid sportsman, amateur historian and, for many years, active in fundraising for Israel for which he was acknowledged by its government. He was buried with full military honors in Florida National Cemetery. Predeceased by daughter Laurie (Dr. Eric) E. Goldfarb of New York City, NY. Survived by his wife of 53 years Rosalind D. Kosoff of Bradenton, FL, daughter Karen (Gary) L. Kosoff-Roth of Pittsford, NY, and son Steven M. Kosoff formerly of Pittsford, NY, sisters-in-law Pearl (Morse) Schwartz of Rochester, NY and Florence (Leonard) Shulmanof Bradenton, FL, six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Taylor, Naomi Sill - Mrs. Naomi Sill Taylor, 95, of Inglis, FL died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 in Lecanto, FL. Naomi was a retired restaurant owner and was born on September 17, 1911 in Sodus, NY to the late Arthur and Laura A. Stillman Sill. She is survived by 2 nephews, Steven Sill and Stewart S. Crumb, Ralph R. - Ralph R. Crumb, 78, of Newark, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at his home on Sweed Road. Mr. Crumb was born in Montezuma, NY on November 17, 1928, the son of John and Frances Barley Crumb. He retired from Fold-Pac, where he worked for 41 years as a five-color pressman and a supervisor on the second shift. Ralph was a member of the Marbletown Fire Department and the Newark Rod & Gun Club. He loved woodworking and working in his garden and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Ralph was known as the Mayor of Parker Hill Road in Randolph, NY. He served in the US Navy from 1947 until 1950. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, at the Paul L. Wheaton, Onnalee P. - Onnalee P. Wheaton, 90, of Greece/Newark, died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Mrs. Wheaton was born in Rushville, July 10, 1916, the daughter of Earl and Mabel Stark Powers. She was a secretary at the Jackson Perkins Nursery and the Parker Furniture Store both in Newark. She had been a member of the Amite Chapter of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two sons John (Elaine) of Orlando, Fl. and Dick (Valerie) Of Wesley Chapel, Fl.; four grandchildren, Richard II, Melissa, David and Christine; and seven great grandchildren. Tyler, Thelma - Thelma Tyler, 86, of Clifton Springs, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan. Thelma was born March 12, 1921 in Manchester, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Sherman. She was retired from Willard where she was a home care provider., Thelma was a member of the Rebecca's which she was very involved with until recent years and was a charter member of the Clifton Springs Women's Fire Auxiliary. She was a past member of Eastern Star. She will be sadly missed by all of her loving friends and family. Ketcham, Esther L. - Esther L. Ketcham, 92, of Lyons, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Esther was born Feb. 13, 1915 in Lyons, a daughter to George C. and Ella Bauer Strohm. Esther retired from Garlock's in Palmyra in 1980, after 36 years of employment and was a member of the Garlock Old Timers Club. She was also an honorary member of the Lyons Rotary Club and was a waitress at the former Wayne Hotel and LaCantina, and past years at Trombino's and the Bridge Tavern, spanning 70 years of serving people at local restaurants. Friends called at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St. in Lyons, where services were held with the Rev. Gerald Harris officiating. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Terry (Amanda) Ketcham, of Lyons; daughter-in-law, Ursula Ketcham of Lyons; four grandchildren, Terry Keith, Karen Ann, Kecia and Timothy; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Strohm, of Lyons; and sister, Pearl Scanlan, of Texas. He had been a sales representative for the Payroll Store in Palmyra and Staff Leasing in Syracuse. John was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the Newark Rotary and had been a member of the Newark Country Club. John enjoyed golfing and hunting. Pearl was a nurse's aid at the Wayne County Nursing Home, and she was a foster grandparent at Roosevelt School in Newark. She was a member of the Lyons Golden Agers & a member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Michael's in Lyons. She formerly lived at Rose Garden Apartments in Newark. Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Emerson. Survived by her son James E. McQueen, H. Edwin - H. Edwin McQueen, of Wolcott, passed away on May 16 2007, at the age of 83. He was born at home on Lake Street, Wolcott in 1924, and graduated from Leavenworth Central School. He began working at Olney & Carpenter in the 1940's, retiring in 1985 after 43 years of service. He was an active member in several organizations, including the Wolcott Fire Department for 65 years, Rotary International for over 40 years, and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks since March of 1950, where he attained the level of Exalted Ruler; NYS Vice-President and then Wolcott Treasurer until 2005. He and his wife, Bette, volunteered as WAVAC Dispatchers, and delivered Meals-on-Wheels. Ed is survived by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Bette (Tyler); son Jerome (Linda) of Marion; daughter Susan (John deceased 11/06) Bittel of Phoenix; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a world of friends and admirers. Bittel, Arthur F. Sr. - Arthur F. Bittel Sr., 89, of Clyde, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Art was born April 18, 1918 in Liverpool, to Clarence and Clara Fisher Bittel. Mr. Bittel was a veteran of the Army having served in the European Theater during World War II. He and Hedwig were married in Norfolk, VA in 1941. Art had worked for the New York Telephone Co. and Sunset Dairy in Newark. He was a member of St. John's Church in Clyde and a founding member of Wayne Hills Country Club. He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Bittel of Newark; sons, Arthur (Margaret) Bittel Jr. of Baldwinsville and Michael (Lorraine) Bittel of Saratoga Springs; daughter-in-law, Susan Bittel of Liverpool; seven grand- children; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bittel was predeceased by his wife, Hedwig; son, John Bittel; and sister, Antoinette Goode. A memorial mass will be held at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to John R. Gray, John Russell - John Russell Gray, 97, of St. Augustine, Fl, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. John was born Sept. 20, 1909 in North Rose, to John M. and Mary B. (Quereau) Gray. He received his degree in architecture from the University of Michigan in, 1932. In 1940, he joined Lozier Engineers in Rochester and stayed until he retired in 1973. He was exempted from military service during World War II because of his work on various jobs for the Defense Department, including site planning for a munitions factory in Lawrence, Kan. It was, there that he met the love of his life, Mary Jo, who worked as an electrical draftswoman for Sunflower Ordinance Works. They married in 1945 and returned to Rochester where they lived for the next 29 years. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, in the Rose Cemetery in North Rose. John is survived by his daughter, Sherry Yoke (Carl) of Stow, OH; sister-in-law, Barbara Gray of Rochester; nieces, Carol Armour of Cleveland, TN, and Gay Arlene Coyle of Pensacola, FL; nephews, Cary and John Gray of Rochester and John Robert Akers (Carolyn) of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughter, Andrea Yoke of Norton, OH; and dear friends, Esther Rexer of Lyons and Lloyd Baldwin of St. Augustine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Mary Jo (Wallace) Gray; brother, George O. Gray.; and grandson, Alexander A. G. Yoke. Rector, Margaret E. - Mrs. Margaret E. Rector, 92, of McBurney Rd., Clifton Springs, died Saturday, May 12, at the Clifton Springs Extended Care Unit. Mrs. Rector (Peg) was born Oct. 10, 1914, in the town of Varick, to the late Flora Ingram and Edward Mann, in the family home on what is now the Seneca Ordinance Depot. She attended the Dey School on Route 96A, Geneva High School, Canandaigua Teachers Training Class and Buffalo State Teachers College. She began her teaching career in 1934 at the Stryker Road one-room, school in Phelps. She mar- ried her trustee's son, Gordon H. Rector, and interrupted her career to raise four children. Then she taught in Shortsville and Clifton Springs. She was a life member in the Presbyterian Church, active in West Fayette, Phelps United and the Geneva Presbytery and Camp Whitman, where she was an elder, teacher and superintendent of Sunday School. She held many offices in the women's association. She was a member of the Phelps, Geneva' and Ontario County historical societies, the Phelps Croquet Club, the Tuesday Club, National Guild of McGown Rug Hooking Krafters, New York State United Teachers and New York State Teachers Association. Peg was a avid. collector of antique dishes, furniture and children's books as well as friends. She had enjoyed worldwide traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Fagner; sons, John (Robyn) Rector and. Robert (Patty) Rector, all of Clifton Springs; one brother, Robert Mann of Dundee; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Inez Mann of Liverpool and Natalie Millard of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by a son, Alfred Thomas, in 1960; her husband, Gordon, in 1980; her brothers, Alfred in 1914 and Phillip in 1998. There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the United Church of Phelps with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Interment will be in West Fayette Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Welch, Ronald P. - Ronald P. Welch, 64, of Cambier Rd., Newark, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at his home following an extended illness. Ronald was born Jan. 28, 1943 in Lyons, the son of Paul and Rena Holt Welch. He lived in Newark for more than 43 years, and had been employed by the Kodak Corp. before his retirement in 1992. While working for Kodak, he spent the last seven years of his employment as a safety coordinator. He was a member of the Osteola Snowmobile Club and was an avid hunter. At his request, there will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Ronald's life at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, May 22), at the VFW Bud-Hinman Post 947, Sodus Street, Clyde. The Rev. Newman, Gladys Pearl - Gladys Pearl Newman, age 97, of Clifton Springs, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the Clifton Springs Hospital Extended Care Facility. Gladys was born December 8, 1909 in Ovid, the daughter of the late Minor and Grace Brown. Mrs. Newman was a member of the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, a 75-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, presently a member of Royal-Garoga Chapter #425. She was a graduate of Fredonia State Teacher College and taught in several one- and two-room schools. She was a devout Christian and spent many years serving with her late husband in his ministry as he served various churches. Friends may call Wednesday, May 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, Main Street, Clifton Springs, where funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will take place Thursday, May 24, 11 a.m. in Lodi Cemetery, Lodi. Mrs. Newman is survived by her son, John H. (Jill) Newman of Rose; niece, Joyce A. VanVleet of Montour Falls; nephew, R. Mark Brown of New Paltz; special friends, Lynn and Lorrie Spence of Clifton Springs. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. John F. Newman in Feb. 1985. Allen, Donald L. - Donald Lee Allen, 63, of East Union St., Newark died suddenly Saturday May 19, 2007. Family and friends may call Tuesday (May 22) from 2- 4 & 7-9 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. The members of the Lyons VFW Post 5092 will hold a Prayer Service with military honors at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Don was born the son of the late Ralph and Yula Wayman Allen on September 4, 1944 in Lyons, NY. He was a graduate of Lyons High School, Class of 1962. After graduation Don joined the United State Marine Corps for five years serving in the Viet Nam War. The staff at the funeral home proudly flies the Marine Corps flag in honor of his service. Don was past police Chief of the Clyde Police Dept. and then joined the Wayne County Sheriff's Dept., retiring in 1996. He enjoyed two things in life the most, his grandchildren and his motorcycle. Spending time with his grandchildren, playing games and just being around them brought him much joy. Often he would ride his motorcycle with no destination in mind, taking many road trips both short and long. Don was a member of the Ontario County Chapter of Harley Owners Group and the Lyons VFW Post 5092. Don will be remembered by his son Ryan and his friend Barbara Manning both of Palmyra; daughters Kim (Brad) Jones of VA and Kris Allen of FL; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother Richard Dale Allen; sisters Sandy Whistler and Jean (Donald) Wood; many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his sister June Chelenza.

DeBellis, Frank A. - Frank A. DeBellis, of Clyde, died unexpectedly on May 16, 2007 at age 62. He was formerly of Rochester. Frank served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was part of the Naval Sea-Bees Team. He was a member of the Bud Hinman Post # 947 of the VFW in Clyde. Frank was a member of the Wayne County Humane Society, he and his wife played an active role in the American Field Services Program, and he was the organist at St. John's Church for the past 11 years. He was retired from Becker Motors in Canandaigua. Surviving are his wife Marianne DeBellis of Clyde, his son Mark DeBellis of Seneca Falls, his sister Vera (Joe) Scuderi of Rochester; 3 nieces; 1 nephew and several great-nieces and -nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 18, from 7-9 pm at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St. Clyde. Warrick, Nicole - Nicole E. 'Nicky' Warrick, 22, of Clifton Springs died Friday, May 11, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident. Nicky was born on Aug. 10, 1984, in Newark, the daughter of Robert and Gail Weeks Warrick. She was a 2002 graduate of Midlakes High School. She graduated from FLCC in 2005, having earned an associates degree in liberal arts and sciences. Nicky was an assistant for Dr. William Dingus, orthodontist, in Newark. She also was a part-time bartender for Murray Street Station in Newark. She was recently accepted into the Dental Hygienist program at Monroe Community College. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Gail Warrick of Clifton Springs; brother Leigh Amar Warrick, US Navy, of San Diego; maternal grandparents, Norris (Pat) Weeks of Clifton Springs, paternal great-grandmother, Harriet Hancy of Ovid; paternal step-grandmother Eleanor Warrick of Liverpool; maternal aunts and uncles, Linda, (Mark Crowley) Weeks Benzer of Bristol, Jeanne (David Rider) Weeks Conley of Shortsville, and Jennifer (Peter) Lana of Webster; paternal aunts and uncles, Connie (Butch) Olsen of Bloomfield, Michael (Sue Cummings) Warrick of Phelps, Pamela (Robert) Switzer of Clifton Springs, and Susan (Richard) Dombrowski of Liverpool; many great-aunts; great-uncles; cousins; and many friends. Fredricksen, Flora Belle - Flora Belle Fredricksen, 89, a resident of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2007. Flo, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was born on November 15, 1917 to the late Lynn and Gail Burgess Craft, and raised in Barker, New York. She graduated from Barker High School and received a nursing degree from E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital in 1941. Flo then enlisted in the Army Nurse Corp. and served in Italy as part of Gen. Pattons campaign from 1942-1945 during World War II. She met her future husband, Major Willis L. 'Fred' Fredricksen, while in France after the war. They married in Barker, NY in September of 1941, and were married for over forty years before 'Fred' died on December 13, 1986. While Fred served in the Army for twenty years, the family was stationed in the United States and Europe until his retirement in 1961. The couple settled in Newark, NY and continued raising their four children. In 1992, along with her daughter Linda, Flo moved to Morgantown, WV to join D. Ann and the rest of her family. Flo is survived by three of five children and their spouses: Linda B. Pembroke, D. Ann and Bill Fremouw, and Gary R. Fredricksen; six grandchildren: Nathan, Timothy, Kimberly, Sarah, Audrey, and Leah; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Starr, Michael, Chole, Hailey, and Delaney; and in-laws Tona and Keith Feuerbach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Willis L. 'Fred' Fredricksen; two children, Gail Lee and Carl Willis; and one granddaughter, Dana, who died in 1998. Funeral services were held at the McCulla Funeral Home, Morgantown on Tuesday, May 15 at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Matthew Riegel officiating. Burial followed at the Newark Cemetery. Donation can be made in memory of Flo to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope Avenue, Newark, NY 14513.

Linderman, Frances F. - Frances F. Linderman, of Newark died Sunday (May 13, 2007) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. No prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday (May 16) at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark with the Rev. Christy Wareham officiating. Burial will be in Sand Beach Cemetery in Auburn. Memorials in her name may be made to the charity of one's choice. Mrs. Linderman was born in Auburn, New York, daughter of John and Grace Nye Fuller. She was a graduate of Auburn High School and Geneseo State College. Fran taught school in Canandaigua for many years. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the Newark Country Club. She is survived by niece Lois Conrad of Greene, NY and many good friends. Fran was predeceased by her husband Verlee on May 4, 1989.

He was a graduate of Clyde High School and then attended Auburn Community College with an AAS degree. Clarence retired from SUNY Brockport in 2004 where he worked as an Accounts Payable Officer. He was an avid collector of baseball memorabilia and a life-long Dodgers fan. Clarence was a member of the Rose United Methodist Church. Clarence will be remembered by his sisters Sherry Juffs and Bonnie (Donald) LaGas; nieces Michelle (Dave) Donk, Tami (Mark) Mundy and Darcy Greco; six great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Mrs. LaFlam was born the daughter of the late Edward and Florence Caughill Baker on January 23, 1916 in Lyons, NY. Mrs. LaFlam worked for many years at the Wayne County Motor Vehicles and then at Freddie's Drive-In which was located where Tim Horton's stands today. Mrs. LaFlam has been a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Newark. Mrs. LaFlam will be remembered by her son Edward Ted LaFlam of Marion and his fiance Penny Hamsher; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Gary VanStean of Victor and Laurel Laurie and Norman Herman of Newark; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters Grace Boegaerd of Newark and Betty (Roger) Wood of FL.; many nieces and nephews. Scheemaker, Alena Marie - Alena Marie Scheemaker of Lyons/Clifton Springs, age 96, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Alena was born Sept. 16, 1910 in Belgium, the daughter of Peter and Marie Ruebens. She was retired from Garlock in Palmyra. Alena enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening. Baker, Albert W. - Albert W. Baker, of Sodus/Canandaigua died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the age of 85. Albert was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Served his country during WWII. He owned and operated the Sodus, Williamson and Wolcott Pennysaver for 27 years and then moved on to sell real estate in Wayne County. He was a member of the Sodus Masonic Lodge #392 F&AM and the Sodus American Legion. There will be a Memorial Service at the Bible Baptist Church, 6181 Ridge Rd. Garrett, David E. - David E. Garrett, age 51, formerly of Dansville passed away Thursday morning May 3, 2007, at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, after a brief illness. He was born in Bath, on October 2, 1955, a son of Melvin and Joyce Dyer Garrett Sr. David was active participant in the Special Olympics for many years. He enjoyed watching western movies, guitars, Santa Claus, listening to the Beatles, making pizza, cooking, and a good cheeseburger and fries. Surviving, in addition to his parents Melvin and Joyce, are his siblings, Bill and (Carol) Garrett of Arkport, Cindy (Toni) Brookshire of Georgia, Melvin Garrett Jr. of Dansville, Margaret (Brian) Vies of South Dakota, Robin Garrett of Dansville and Terry (Walter) Verhine, also of Georgia; his aunts Suzanne Ackley of Bath and Jacqueline (Douglas) Herbert of Campbell and a great-aunt Alika Hopkins of West Seneca; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends in Newark. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Rogersville Forest Law Cemetery in South Dansville. Pellicano, Angelo J. 'Tony' - Angelo James Pellicano, 74, of Lyons died Monday, April 30, 2007 at Highland Hospital with his family by his side. Family and friends may call today (Thursday, May 3) from 5 to 8 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Funeral Service will be Friday (May 4) at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Peter Clifford officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Cemetery. In memory of Mr. Pellicano, please consider donations to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, 13220 or to the American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14620. Mr. Pellicano was born the son of the late Antonio and Mary Mazzenca Pellicano on September 30, 1932 in Newark, NY. He was a construction proprietor specializing in dry walling. Mr. Pellicano loved music and was well known for his ability to pick-up any instrument and play it. Never having a lesson of any kind, he would play the accordion, guitar, harmonica and drums, to mention a few, every Saturday night at the Lyons American Legion. He would also visit many area nursing homes to play music and bring a smile to the residents. Mr. Pellicano will be remembered by his daughter Judy (Don) Johnson of NC; sons Angelo (Peggy) and Anthony (Denise) Pellicano; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; his sons' mother Jackie (Butler) Pellicano; brother Joe Ippolito; special friend Marilyn Millage. Mr. Pellicano was predeceased by his son Andrew; brothers Louis Ippolito, Anthony and Peter Pellicano; sisters Nancy Drinkwater, Theresa Jacobs, Concetta and Grace Pellicano.

Triou, Jean (Pfluke) - Jean (Pfluke) Triou, 72, of Marion, beloved wife and mother, entered into rest on May 1, 2007. Predeceased by her sister Norma (Lowell) Wheeland of Ohio and brother Chester (Mary) Pfluke Jr. of Oregon. She is survived by her husband Donald; children Kathleen (William) Howe of Rochester, Kenneth (Nancy) Triou of CT, JoAnn (Michael) Burger of Clyde and Gary (Stacey) Triou of Clifton Springs; grandchildren Laura Burger, Brian Burger and Lynn Triou; brother-in-law Howard Triou; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Margeson, Gertrude (Hodges) - Gertrude Margeson, loving mother and grandmother, age 92, formerly of Phelps and Clifton Springs passed away on April 24, 2007 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Gertrude is survived by her children, Linda (Brian) Daldry of Branchport, Bonnie (Jonathan) Crane of Newark, Stephen (Joan) Margeson of Webster and Dwan (Betty) Margeson of Groton; 8 grandchildren, Louis (Samantha) Parrow, Mathew (Sophia) Parrow, Donald (Heather) Margeson, Stephen (Patricia) Margeson, Danny (Lori) Margeson, Gary (Monica) Margeson, Amanda McFaul and Corporal John (Lauren) McFaul; 7 great-grandchildren; and one on the way; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Hodges of Florida; several nieces and nephews; very close friends, the Burns Family and all her friends at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Lewis in 1963; sisters, Florence, Thelma and Bertha; brothers, Harold and Richard. Gertrude was born May 14, 1914 in Pavillion, NY the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna Hodges. She was a member of the Phelps Baptist Church. Gertrude enjoyed collecting knick-knacks, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening and all animals, especially frogs. She was very family oriented and loved to travel to see her loved ones. Gertrude was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all of her loving friends and family. In keeping with her wishes there will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Gertrude's life 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Phelps Baptist Church. Fusmer, Robert H. - Robert H. Fusmer age 77, of Lyons, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 while in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Friends may call on Thursday, May 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A Masonic service will follow calling at 8 p.m. and an Order of the Eastern Star Service will follow at 8:15 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Huling-Hummel officiating. Burial will be in the South Lyons Cemetery. Bob was born in Gloversville, on July 21, 1929, a son to Homer and Mildred Putman Fusmer and was raised in the Canajoharie area. He was a resident of Lyons for 50 years and was the reading coordinator for the Lyons Elementary School for 33 years. His love for children and passion for education extended all his years. He also taught boys and girls tennis, freshman basketball, baseball and more. Bob was a 50-year Mason (F&AM) and past Master, and held various offices in the Order of the Eastern Star. He was an active golfer, a Lyons Town Councilman for many years and was active in cultural and civic events. Bob was a man who left an indelible mark on everyone he met with his quiet kindness and compassion. He was known for his wit, gentleness and, giving spirit. He was beloved by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Theressa; son, David (Rosemary) Giljam of PA.; two daughters, Beth (Buddy) Jarrells of South Carolina, and Alica (Bob) Peavey of Georgia; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Beach, Robert I. - Robert I. Beach, 73, of Sodus passed away peacefully on April 30, 2007, age 73. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gloria (Johnson) Beach; daughter Donna (John) MacDougall; sons Donald (Cindy) Beach, John (Kim) Beach, Robert (Jackie) Beach, Terry (Jennifer) Beach; his brothers Ivan Beach, Fred (Fran) Beach, Leslie (Mary Ann) Beach; sisters Ann Spray, Ruth Lonniville and Barb (Curt) Curtis; 17 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his daughter Connie, his parents and by brother Harry. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus, where his funeral services will be held Saturday, 4 p.m. Interment will be at Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Milem, George W. - George W. Milem, age 84, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. George was born in Lyons and raised in the North Rose area, a son to William B. and May L. Oswald Milem on December 15, 1922. He was a 65-year member of the Rose Grange, a lifelong member of the Rose United Methodist Church, and was an area fruit farmer and bee keeper. Surviving are his wife Lucille; 3 children, Fern (Charles) Krosschell of MI, William (Twana) Milem of North Rose, Julie (Daley) Petry of Canton; daughter-in-law, Jane Milem of North Rose; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Ruth Marshall of Lyons, June MacDougall of Wolcott, and Thirza Mullen of Marion; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special family friend, Joyce Barr of Lyons. He was predeceased by his parents; son Phillip in 1994 and brother Phillip. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m. in the Rose United Methodist Church. Vogel, Carolyn - Carolyn Vogel, 91, of Newark, died peacefully Monday, April 30, 2007 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Family and friends may call Wednesday (May 2) from 4 to 8 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday (May 3) at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, Newark. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Mrs. Vogel was a native New Yorker, having been born in New York City, daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Slavinski) Glica on November 1, 1915. She moved to Newark, NY shortly after retirement, however, in her heart she always was a City Woman. Mrs. Vogel was employed for many years as a secretary at the Eagle Pencil Co. in Manhattan. She later worked as an Executive Secretary at JP Morgan Chase. Devoted to her work, she was known for her attention to detail and the quality work she produced. She truly took pride in her position and performed it with meticulous attention. Mrs. Vogel held herself to high standards in her work and in her life. She valued her privacy and respected the privacy of others. She was kind to others and had a great deal of religious faith, which she lived by in every day life. Mrs. Vogel was an avid reader and had a great love for history. Her mind remained sharp until her death. She told many stories of her life in New York City and her experiences there. Mrs. Vogel took great pride in her Polish heritage as well as Polish history and traditions. In later years, she was confined to her home and spent much of her time watching TV. She loved baseball and considered the New York Yankees her hometown team. Watching ice-skating competitions brought her much pleasure and brought back memories of her skating days in Central Park's Wolman Memorial Ice Rink. She was never able to master the ice, but she did enjoy the time skating. Mrs. Vogel found pleasure and comfort in her life by living quietly and seeking joy in the simple things of the moment. Those who knew and loved her will miss her, but will find comfort in knowing she is with God. May she rest in peace! She will be remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and James Herbert of Newark; son Richard of NYC; granddaughter Andrea Herbert, in whose accomplishments she reveled; grandson Anthony Langdon and his wife Jill of Rochester, whose visits brought her so much pleasure. She was predeceased by her sister Stephanie Glica and brother John Glica.

Brew, Lester Thomas Sr. - Lester Thomas Brew, Sr., of Macedon, died on April 21, 2007 at age 85, at The Bickford Home. Lester was born in Rochester on July 8, 1921. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1944 and was in combat in Europe and Northern Africa and was a member of Wolcott American Legion Post 881. He was raised in Rochester where he retired from Eastman Kodak Paper Products Division in 1978, and lived for over 40 years on Five Mile Line Road in Webster, then resided in Wolcott since 1985. Lester also enjoyed a cottage on Millen Bay in Cape Vincent for over 40 years. Predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Alena 'Tootsie' (VanDerLyke) Brew; daughter Alyce Tighe, son Tom Brew, parents Joseph Raymond & Minnie (Gee) Brew, brother Raymond Brew; sister Geraldine Brew; half-brothers Fred, Ernest, Tracy, & Carlton Updike. Survived by granddaughter Ellyn Tighe of Campton, NH; grandsons, Jarett (Cynthia) Tighe of Lynchburg VA, Jay (Tammy) Brew of Hornwell, Jason (Renee) Brew of Wellsville; sister Minnie Brew of NC; sister-in-law Sarah VanDerLyke of Rochester; son-in-law, John Michael Tighe of Rochester; daughter-in-law Pauline Brew of Hornell; several nieces & nephews. Gorman, Richard S. - Richard S. Gorman, of Williamson, entered into rest on April 28, 2007 in his 86th year. Richard was a WWII Navy veteran, retiree from Monroe Title Ins. Harvey, Chester J. - Chester J. Harvey passed away late Saturday morning April 21, 2007 at Geneva General Hospital, following a brief illness. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26 at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St. in Lyons, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Internment will be in the South Lyons Cemetery with a luncheon to follow. Donations may be made, in Chester's name, to either the Lyons Public Library or the Lyons American Legion Post. Chester was born Jan. 11, 1915, the second of three children of the late John J. and Carrie Ochs Harvey. He was a member of the Lyons Central School, class of 1933 that graduated in December of 1932. Chester was among the first World War II draftees, and was very proud of his service as a sergeant in the 808 Army Engineer Battalion in Australia's Northern Territory and Papua New Guinea. He was a member of both the Lyons VFW Post 5092 and American Legion Post 227. Before and after the war he worked for Jackson and Perkins, and often reminisced about his experiences traveling around the country working on projects with Carroll Perkins. He retired after 30 years of service at the Lyons Post Office in 1978. In 1955, Chester married his pre-war sweetheart, Isabelle Barbieri. They lived and raised their family on a farm on Layton St. Road until 2001. Chester loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman in his earlier years, and loved his loyal hunting dogs. He enjoyed working around his farm raising walnuts, Chinese chestnuts, blueberries, strawberries, yews and Christmas trees, being surrounded by his family, playing cards, working on various home improvement projects, puzzles and was always reading one or more books at a time. He is survived by his wife of 51 years his children, Elizabeth of Newark, John (Lois) of Howell, Mich. and Thomas (Robin) of Gorham; four granddaughters, Lisa (Richard) Strutz, Tricia (Ben) McAllister, Katherine and Jillian Harvey; three great-grandchildren, Joey and Lindsey Strutz and John Alden McAllister; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Harvey; his older sister, Dorothy (Pete) Covert; and his younger sister, Thelma (Robert) Smith.

DiLeo, Dorothy M. - Mrs. Dorothy M. DiLeo, 85, of Gravel St., Clyde, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital with her family by her side, following an extended illness. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Tuesday, April 24) at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St., Clyde. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. James Hewes officiating. She had been a resident of Clyde and member of St. John's Church for over 60 years. On May 17, 1940, she married the late Albert DiLeo, who predeceased her on April 11, 1993. Dorothy had worked for over 20 years for the General Electric Corp in Clyde and Auburn. She had also been employed by the Sarah Coventry Co. of Newark. She was an avid bowler. Surviving are her daughter, Edith (Anthony) VanVleck of Clyde; her son, Anthony DiLeo of Clyde; eight grandchildren, Becky Fuller, Anthony VanVleck, Heidi DeLeo, Cheryl Cheney, Donna DiLeo, Julie Malchoff, Shawn DiLeo and Albert Smith; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Clayton Spade of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Peggy Smith in 1998; her sisters, Clara Salansky, Florence Goodrich and Gertrude Storto; and her brothers, Clarence and Raymond Spade.

Rice, Laurence E. - Laurence Earl Rice, 92, of Newark died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the DeMay Living Center. There will be no prior calling hour. Mr. Rice was born the son of the late Earl and Florence Cleveland Rice on December 15, 1914 in Kendall, NY. He was a 1932 graduate of Newark High School and was then co-proprietor of Colton Motors in Newark until retiring in 1982. A long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Newark, he enjoyed serving on many committees. The church was an important part of his life. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 83 in Newark. Mr. Rice will be remembered by his brother and sister- in-law Ken and Joan Rice of Newark; sisters-in-law Doris Rice and Jesse Rice both of Newark and Beverly Rice of Rochester; many nieces and nephews and their family including a very special niece and caregiver Cheryl Chapman of Newark. Mr. Rice was predeceased by his loving wife and partner Wanda Rice in May of 2003; brothers William, Francis and Stanley; sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth and Luther Reed, Doris and Hugh Chaffee and Dorothy Rice; sister-in-law Josephine Rice.

Mr. Ferris was born in Geneva on December 7, 1915, the son of Willard H. and Laura Marshall Ferris, Sr. He moved to Newark when he was six years old and graduated from Newark High School in 1934 and then Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. He enlisted in the Army in April 1941, serving in Central Europe and the Rhineland as a radio repairman until the end of World War II. Jess was a self- employed electrician operating Ferris Radio and Electrical Service before working at the Sampson Naval Base and Bloomer Brothers. He retired in 1977 from the Newark Developmental Center where he had been an electrician. Jess was a 74-year member of the New York Central Hose Company #5 of the Newark Fire Department and was honored in the 2006 firemen's parade as the Grand Marshall. Jess was a member of the Newark Elks Lodge and the August Mauer Post 285, American Legion. He also belonged to the Wayne Hills Country Club and was the Guys and Dolls Tournament Champion in 1969. Jess had run for Mayor of the Village of Newark in 1959. He is survived by his daughter Amy Herbert of Fairport. Jess was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Elizabeth Liz Ferris on October 10, 2005.

Valley, Donald L. - Donald L. Valley, of Elizabethtown, NY, formerly of Williamson, entered into rest on April 21, 2007, in his 79th year. Donald was a Eastman Kodak retiree. He was predeceased by his wife, Harley (French) Valley in 1985. Osborn, Alice S. (DeRidder) - Alice S. (DeRidder) Osborn, of Williamson, went home to be with her Lord on April 18, 2007, in her 91st year. Alice was a member of the Sodus Reformed Church. Milonas, James - James Milonas, of Greece, entered into rest on April 20, 2007 after a courageous battle against lymphoma. Jim was a 1944 graduate of Madison High School & a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He formerly resided in Newark NY, where he managed the Wegmans store from its opening in 1957 until his retirement in 1987. After his 37 year career with Wegmans, Jim spent 10 years driving cars for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards & making people smile. Drury, Inez (Nana) - Inez (Nana) Drury, of North Rose, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. Inez was a retired second grade teacher at North Rose Central School. Some of her current activities were being a member of the Town of Rose Historical Society, Rose Public Health Committee, Rose Oasis and weekly card player with the 'card girls'. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, 92 years young who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1985; and great-grandson, Alexander in 2001. Grabenstatter, Brenda J. - Brenda J. Grabenstatter, 48, of Newark, died on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Rochester General Hospital. Brenda was born March 24, 1959 in Red Creek, the daughter of Alfred and Normal DeVoll Burlew. She had worked at Hill Haven Nursing Home in Webster and was a home health aide for LifeTime Care in Newark. Most recently she was doing private duty care. Briggs, Susie J. (Mahar) - Susie Jane Briggs (Mahar), 61, of Newark, died on April 18, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm. Douglas, Harry - Harry Russell 'Russ' Douglas 82, of Melbourne, Florida died April 8, 2007.Harry was born September 14, 1924 in Newark. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 101st and 82nd Airborne of the U.S. Army. The funeral home proudly flies the Army Flag in his honor. Harry ('Russ') retired from the Newark Developmental Center in 1974 and moved to Nevada, where he lived for several years, before retiring to Melbourne, Florida. Some of the special activities he enjoyed included fishing and ice fishing, and Bullhead fishing. Harry had played softball and liked to watch baseball. Harry is survived by his wife Mary; children Vicky (Michael) Cinquegrana of Newark, Barbara (Bruce) Couch of Florida, and Barry Douglas of Newark; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister Martha Weaver of Newark; nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his son David Hebbe; sisters Dorothy Vanderwege and Gertrude Alminkinder; brothers Leo and Robert Carney and Donald Douglas. Arrangements entrusted to Norman L. Rogers, Francis W. 'Sock' - Francis W. 'Sock' Rogers, 81, of Columbus died at 4:45 pm, Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana. Mr. Rogers was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Penn Yan, N.Y., the son of Francis W. and Lucinda Kenyon Rogers. He married Gloria J. Monje on Dec. 23, 1950. Mr. Rogers worked in manufacturing 50 years in flexible packaging and waste management engineering. He was a veteran of World War II, serving on a B-17 as a radar mechanic with the 401st Bomb Squadron from 1943 until he was discharged in 1945. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology, IUPUI Institute, Ivy Tech College, Calumet Extension of IU and at age 76 again attended Ivy Tech to maintain his education level. The funeral was held Thursday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan Asher of Columbus; sons, Scott F., Jeff (Angelica) and Lance (Pamela) Rogers, all of Columbus; a sister, Rose Cannuli of Wolcott, NY; stepbrothers, David Pulver of Moorehead City, SC, and Paul Pulver of Santee, NC; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents; an infant son, Joseph Rogers, and a brother, Gary Pulver.

Allard, Douglas W. - Douglas W. Allard passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2007. Born in Binghamton, NY on November 6, 1951, he graduated in 1970 from Marion Central School. Bloomer, Louise Brewer - Louise Brewer Bloomer, Newark, died April 13, 2007 at her home in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Bloomer was born on April 29, 1928 in Rochester, NY the daughter of the late Wendell and Mildred Brewer. Lou grew up in Rochester and graduated from the Columbia School in 1946 and later from The School of Horticulture in Ambler, PA. She spent the early years of married life with her husband and their family in Newark, moving to Charlotte in 1969. She is survived by her husband of 54 years ,Robert S. Bloomer, their daughter Gail Bloomer and husband Chris and children Molly and Lizzie of Charlotte; their son Robert S. Bloomer III and wife Amy and children Robert IV, Curtis and Cameron of Pittsford, and their son William H. Bloomer and wife Jane and children Brandon and Brycen of Jackson, FL. Also surviving is a twin brother, Edward Brewer and wife Barbara; a sister Gail Brewer Fowler and husband Robert; and brother-in-law Jack Rennoe. She was predeceased by a sister Marcia Brewer Rennoe. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date in Newark.

Bennett, Anthony - Anthony 'Tony' Bennett, 85, of Lyons died April 13, 2007 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Tony was born in Newark, July 10, 1921, son of Nunzio and Ernestine Genneth Bennett. He retired from the Lyons Central School as a custodian, he had also worked for the village of Lyons and U.S. Radiator in Geneva. He served in the Army 101st Air Borne Unit where he received the purple heart in the battle of the bulge. He was a member of St. Michael's Church. Survived by 2 sons, David (Eileen) of Lyons; Edward (Holly) of Goleta, California; 4 grandchildren, Alayna (Brice) Shipley, Matthew (Crystal) Bennett, Cresta (Hemantha) Abeysakera, Laurel Bennett; 2 great-grandchildren, Paige Shipley and Kylie Bennett; brother Raymond of Canastota; 2 sisters, Ann and Mary Bennett of Buffalo; nieces and nephews. Ruth was born on June 1, 1951 in Auburn, the daughter of the later Oscar and Josephine Linnenbach Staub. Benne, Jacob - Jacob J.L. 'Jake' Benne, 82, of Newark and East Palmyra, died April 11, 2007 at the Newark Hospital. Jake was born June 14, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Simon and Martha Blok Benne. He was a civil engineer, and worked for Seneca Foods for several years, before retiring in 1991. He worked for Lozier Engineers and Burgart Engineers, installing water lines in communities in the area. Jake was a fighter pilot with the U.S. Air Force during World War II, in the Pacific Theater. Before moving to the Newark area, he was a deep-sea diver for Merritt & Chapman and was involved with the scavenging of the Normandy Luxury Liner in New York Harbor. Jake was a life member of the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church. He loved music, playing the violin, piano, organ and singing solos at the Church. Jake had been a member of the East Palmyra Fire Department. He is survived by his children Arie (Shirley) of Plano, TX, Roger (Fonda) of Newark and Kathleen (Norman) Barkman of Newark; seven grandchildren Lisa (James) Newby, Kevin (Wendy) Benne, Kathleen (Ben) Bremer, Jonathan (Jane) Benne, Kristin (Jeremy) Frey, Alisha and Arielle Geldorf; six great grandchildren, Canyon and Timberlyn Benne, Dillon and Zoie Frey, Cooper Newby, Jacob Benne. Sharrow, Fred - Frederick Charles 'Woodchopper' Sharrow, 70, of Port Gibson died suddenly April 11, 2007 at the ER at Newark Hospital.  Fred was born Sept. 3, 1936 in Muncy, PA, son of the late Kenneth and Althea Bull Sharrow. He worked on farms before his health forced his retirement. Fred was an avid CB radio operator for more than 40 years. Among the CB radio operators he was well known as 'Woodchopper.'  Private funeral services, and interment will be in Port Gibson Cemetery. Thoms, Shirley - Shirley E. Thoms of Lyons died April 11, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born in Arcadia, the daughter of Albert and Mae Mitchell Matteson. She had worked for Sarah Coventry in Newark. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. William Mugnolo officiating. Interment will be in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by nieces and nephews; and sister in-law Shirley Matteson of East Palmyra. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter in June 1996; by a brother Bruce Matteson and sister Marion Ronan. Stergis, Bobby G. - Bobby G. Stergis, 58, of Butternut St., Lyons, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at the DeMay Living Center. Bobby was born November 28, 1948 in Cuthbert, GA, son of William James Sturgis and Lillie Mae William. Bobby was predeceased by his father, William James Sturgis. He is survived by his mother, Lillie Mae Smith of Lyons; five daughters, Angeline, Anastasi, Vannesa and Victoria of Atlanta, GA, and Yolanda of Rochester; four grandchildren; one brother, Willie Smith of Lyons; and sister Delores Gayner of Tampa, FL. Redfield, Elizabeth F. - Family and friends of Elizabeth B. Ray, Jacqueline - Jacqueline 'Jackie' Ray, 55, of Palmyra, died on April 9, 2007 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Jack & Elizabeth Smith; brother, Francis. Bomeline, Minnie - Minnie Bomeline, 92, of Bradenton, FL/Newark NY died Monday, April 2, 2007 in Floral City, Florida. She was born Nov. 27, 1914 in Newark, N.Y., to Henry and Frances (Austin) Harder. Mrs. Bomeline was a retired secretary of Emmons, a division of Sarah Coventry. She was predeceased by her husband, Floreman Bomeline, a daughter, Bonnie, a sister, Alice Harder and brother Kenneth Harder. Survivors include her son, Duane F. Toye, Edward D. (Tanker) - Edward D. Toye, 70, of Sodus, died Saturday (April 7, 2007) at Wayne County Nursing Home. No prior calling hours. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday (April 14) at the Fairville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Watkins officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Baptist Rural Cemetery in Sodus Center. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in his name to the Fairville Fire Department Ambulance Fund, 2963 Rt. 88, Newark, New York 14513. Mr. Toye was born in Wallington on November 8, 1936 the son of Edward and Ethel Duncan Toye. He worked for over 37 years, with the Wayne County Highway Department where he was a heavy equipment operator. Tanker was a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church and for 52 years, a member of the Wallington Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Katherine (Pratt), a son Dale (Amy), a grandson Joshua, a granddaughter Jessica and a grand-dog Brandy all of Sodus, a sister Nancy (Carlo) Rios of Lyons, a brother Richard (Barbara) VanGys of Pottsville, PA, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Ethel in 1985 and his father Edward on March 27, 2007.

Nowak, Clara - Clara J. Nowak of Palmyra, was called to rest in her saviors arms on April 7, 2007. The daughter of the late John and Julia Nowak. Clara was predeceased by her brother, Daniel. Clara was a Felician Sister, Franciscan Order, of Enfield, CT, where she was known as Sister Mary Rosalie. Clara was a teacher in several schools throughout New England and New York. In 1975, she moved to Palmyra. Clara is survived by 3 brothers, Leo (Rita), Benedict (Rose) Nowak, both of Florida, NY, and Sylvester 'Tony' (Mary) Nowak of Colorado Springs, CO; 1 sister, Dorothy (Gerald) Scheer of Palmyra; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Thursday, April 12 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Catholic Church, 136 Church St., Palmyra. Memorials in memory of Clara may be directed to St. Anne's Church. Garling, Charles E. Jr. - Charles E. Garling Jr., 59, of Glenview Drive, Clifton Springs, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Charles was born Jan. 24, 1948 in Canandaigua, the son of Charles Sr. and Doris Garling. He was a graduate of Clifton Springs High School in 1968. He graduated from the Community College of the Finger Lakes with an associate's degree in arts, and from State University College at Brockport with a bachelor's degree in science. Charles was a drug and alcohol counselor at Volunteers of America in Rochester. He was a past member of the JayCee's. He loved his cat 'Baby' and enjoyed computers, games and all movies. Charles would buy anything as long as it was on sale. He will be sadly missed by all of his loving friends and family. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Garling in 2001; and brother, Robert Paul Garling in 1996. He is survived by his children, Bobbie Jo (Lonnie) Halladay, of Phelps and Charles (Sabrina) Garling III, of Middlesex; stepsons, Geoff and David, of Virginia; stepdaughter, Jennifer, of Virginia; brother, Harry (Barbara) Garling, of Port Gibson; sister, Elsie Mae (Michael) Shorter, of Texas; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Monday, April 9), at the Patrick Funeral Home, 26 W. Main St., Clifton Springs. Services will immediately follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Peters, Mildred E. - Mildred E. Peters, 89, of Newark, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007. Family and friends may call Friday (April 13) from 5 to 8 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Mrs. Peters was born the daughter of Jacob and Nora Conrow DeHond on August 1, 1917 in Mt. Morris, NY. She was a graduate of Williamson High School in 1938. Mrs. Peters was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark where she was a member of the United Methodist Church Womans Society, First Methodist Caring and Sharing Group, The Ruth Circle and the Mission Committee. Mrs. Peters was a member of the Amitie Chapter of the Eastern Star # 473. She was also a member of the Wayne County Association of Retarded Children where she served as secretary for the Board of Directors for several years and she also severed on the ARC Incident Board. Mrs. Peters was a member of the Newark- Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary and the Womans Republican Club. She enjoyed and was a member of the Ladies Quilting Club. For many years she volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Peters will be remembered by her sons, David (Lillian) Peters of AZ and Michael (Carol) Peters of Virginia; daughters, Corinne Despos of Newark, Diane Peters of Marion and Kathleen (James) Braham of Alaska; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Peters was predeceased by her loving husband Paul Peters on April 7, 1996; son Jimmy Peters; brother Linwood DeHond; sisters Eleanor DeHond and Beulah VerHow.

Cattieu, Myron R. - Myron R. Cattieu, 92, of Hogback Rd., Palmyra, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Cattieu was born in Rochester on March 10, 1915, the son of Edward and Susan Garvey Cattieu. He had lived in the area all of his life where he was a farmer and cattle dealer. Friends may call from 12-2 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St., Newark, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gerald Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Newark Cemetery. Myron is survived by a niece, Barbara Mattoon of Phelps, special friends David Baker of Palmyra and Janice Baker of Phelps.

Goetzman, Betty Jane - Betty Jane Goetzman, 79, of Lyons, resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home, died April 3, 2007, with her husband Robert by her side. Betty was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Newark, to Ernest and Wilhelminia Cole VanCassele. Betty was married to Robert Goetzman in 1946. She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Lyons; daughter, Debra Ann Goetzman, of Newark; grandson, Christopher; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Mark Robert in 2003; and a sister, Mary House. Donations are appreciated at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 102 Hope Ave., Newark 14513, or to the American Cancer Society. A funeral service was held at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons; interment is in the East Newark Cemetery.

Fillippello, Rose - Rose E. Fillippello, 92, of Lyons, resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home, died April 4, 2007. Rose was born July 27, 1914 in Rochester, daughter of Charles and Catherine Guzzetta Gagliano. She was a long-time resident of Lyons and will be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving person. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominic, in 1982; daughter, Theresa Griswold; brother, Michael and sister, Libby Cumbo. Loving mother of five children, Ralph (Marge) Fillippello of Lyons, Dolores States of Clifton Springs, Kathleen (Judson) Bell of Canandaigua, James Fillippello of Canandaigua, and Thomas Fillippello and daughter, Jessica of Rochester; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Fillippello will be private, with burial in the South Lyons Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Weeks- Keysor Funeral Home in Lyons.

Dunham, David A. - David A. Dunham, 70, formerly of Smith Hill Rd., Walworth, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 7, at noon at Branchport Cemetery, Branchport. Memorials to the Activity Fund, in care of the Wayne County Nursing Home, Rt. 31, Lyons, NY 14489. David was born in Greece on August 9, 1936, son of Royal and Gladys Wood Dunham. He had lived in Walworth for many years before going to the Wayne County Home in 2005. Survived by three brothers, Kenneth (Monique) of Rochester; Elson (Marianne) of Webster; Donald (Ann) of Geneva; nieces, nephews. Special thank you to Mary Dunham and daughter Donna (Chris) Wilson for their many years of loving care to David. Parkison, Evan James - Evan James Parkison, age 21, residing in Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Wolcott, died instantly on March 28, 2007, with his girlfriend Jillian Boda, 20. They died after a vehicle collided with their vehicle, which was parked in the Emergency Lane, while they waited for roadside assistance. Evan was raised in Wolcott. He graduated from Collins College in January of 2007 with a Bachelor's degree, and was employed in Arizona. He is survived by his parents, Dave and Kathleen Parkison, of Wolcott; two brothers, Matthew (Morgan) Parkison, and Eric Parkison; his grandparents, Fred and Florence Parkison of Newark, and Eleanor Reilly, of Red Creek; aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased in 1997 by his grandfather, James Reilly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the North Rose United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Huron Evergreen Cemetery.

Batterby, Paul E. - Paul E. Batterby, 61, of Palmyra, died April 2, 2007. Predeceased by his parents Cyril & Dorothy Batterby. Survived by his wife Carol (Malark) Batterby; sons Christopher Batterby (Valerie), Geoffrey (Emily) Batterby; 5 grandchildren; brother Donald (Evelyn) Batterby; several nieces & nephews. Forbes, Elaine Strobridge - Elaine Strobridge Forbes, 78, of Newark, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the DeMay Living Center with her family by her side. She was born May 22, 1928 in the family home on Wilson St. in Newark. Mrs. Forbes was born the daughter of the late Earl and Marie Campbell Strobridge. Mrs. Forbes attended Cortland State Teacher's College, and then worked at the Commercial Building in Newark, NY. She married her husband September 9, 1950. Together they operated two florist shops, Arcadia Florist in Newark and Lyons Floral Shop in Lyons for 12 years. Mrs. Forbes was the Executive Director of The American Cancer Society in 1980 and retired in 1992. While there, in 1989, she received the New York State Award for Recognition of Exemplary Performance and Positive Approach in the cause of Cancer Control. She most recently worked at the DeMay Living Center as a receptionist and then as a volunteer. Also she worked at Armstrong Senior Living in Newark and Vienna Gardens in Phelps. She enjoyed making crafts, quilts, volunteering, traveling and, most important, spending time with her family. Mrs. Forbes will be remembered by her loving husband Robert Forbes; son Barry R. Forbes; daughters Susan (Ken) Graham and Linda (Jim) Bridgeman; grandchildren Jacquie (Jason) Stanley, Cheryl and Beverly Graham, Chad and Colby Crockford; brother Maurice (Jeanne) Strobridge; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call Wednesday (April 4) from 3 to 7 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark.
